Under or over moderation - what is preferrable

Am I mistaken or is this thread about over-moderation by the moderators who should show some moderation in their moderating?

I think Scott T has the right to voice his opinion, as does anyone else. No need to go after him.  I've been known to give the Moocherator a little ribbing over the post moving in the past so I can see Scott's perspective, especially with the Linda Mar seal tasting. 

I think joel is following the letter of the law when it comes to the posts though, technically he hasn't been wrong.

I agree that Scott T has a right to his opinion and I was really not trying to "go after him". If that is how it was perceived, then I appologize. My point is that NCKA is a great website because of the 10-20% of members who make meaningful contributions and the moderators who volunteer their time to keep things organized and under control. If you have an issue with how the site is being moderated, then volunteer your own time to be a moderator. To be critical of volunteers with no skin in the game is questionable, IMO. If you have constructive feedback for a moderator, sending them a PM would be a more professional approach. BTW, your basking shark theory on Adam's shark thread was one of your most "meaningful" contributions this year.

1) Construing my poll as being an attack on Joel - nothing could be farther from the truth. I do see him moving threads, but Señor agarcia and Allen (polepole) have also had me scratching my head thinking "what was the point". At any rate, the poll has spoken, I'm apparently overly sensitive to the issue. I guess it comes from being used to forums that are much more Laissez-faire. At least I have the huevos to admit I'm out of line here.

2) "Contributing".  I've put in the time, the posts, and the $$$ here.  I rose to the call to help an NCKA brother before you even joined the forum. Maybe one of the OG's can chime in and remind me who the guy was that had their Fish-n-Dive swiped, and NCKA raised funds. No big thing, but it puts the lie to your contention that I haven't contributed, when in fact I've been contributing from darn near day one. Then there was the session I organized after Frank went swimming, to investigate options in the case of a boat getting swamped. The results and pictures were posted here for all to see. Again, maybe that was before you joined? Then there's the 1300 plus posts, the bulk of which are not "atta-boys" but contain actual content.  But since none of them are of me holding a yard sale on a 3 foot wave, maybe they don't count either?  I've kicked in straight $$$ to the MLPA, and plan to do even more. But maybe you don't consider that "contributing"?

3) I'd be happy to moderate. No one's asked. Maybe they realize I'm not moderate enough.

4) I agree, sharing a name with you is embarrassing. You're not wrong there. The thing is though, is that I'm proud enough of my name to not hide behind a fish.

If you perceive the above as "going after" you, again you wouldn't be wrong. But I'm not going to apologize for it.

It's no big deal and I'm certainly not offended, it's just not what I'm used to seeing here or elsewhere. On the other hand, if I've offended you by putting up a poll, then I apologize.

As for nothing better to do, well you're always welcome to come visit if your medical treatments allow. 230 acre mostly C&R bass lake. A dual hatch Tarpon, and more fishing gear than any sane person would have is all yours. Two boys under 4 that would love to show you how to catch the trophy 2" Sunfish. How about a drift down the Yuba on a cataraft? Hella-asian cooking...
