Howdy All...       :smt006

Sorry for not having much more information,

Having communication problems with EBRP, but will have it taken care of next week....

The VA and Warrior Transition Units are getting the word out and I think were looking at 40 Wounded Warriors plus some unknown amount of family...

I hope to have Good News next week about how this is going....   :smt004

Oh Boy....  :smt100 :smt101  :smt102

I thought it would be no problem getting one the Major Super stores, Costco, Raley's, etc.. to hop on board this, but I'm hitting the company line and sad stories of the economy and have my request 2 months in advance and maybe will give you a $25 gift cert....   :smt108

I'm still in process of working on this but, I/we, went big on this event and I am expecting around 100 people plus or minus, and were less than 20 something days away...

anyone have ideas of who we can hit up for donating food? I can write a 501(c)(3) for their donation...

I think we are looking at a Breakfast Burrito type thing for the morning,
eggs, cheese, sausages, peppers, torts, coffee, pastries, donuts...

Lunch, Chicken, probably need around 25 to 30, sausages/Links, hot dogs, fruit salad... ya kinda get the idea where were going here...

                               Idea's welcome.....   :smt045

I'm still working on the cooperate thing, and it may come through, but we may get lost in the 100's of people asking for stuff.

On the East Bay Parks Officials...

I'm trying to get all fees waived...

parking, yak, boat, quagga muscle fee, fishing permit fee, etc,

I don't know how this is going to go as I'm still wading thru the chain of command, but they are being very nice and receptive...

On camping the night before, Hetch Hetchy is booked for that weekend, we might be able to get it the night before ( the 7th ), but would have to be cleared out by 12 the next day, and with everything to do in setting this up, does not work for me. Most other group sites are also booked for that weekend, maybe, I might be able to get one of those. Vernados is open, but rustic, no water and far down the road/water. we could book in the Family campground, but that is thru Reserve America and would have to pay for that... I could start the letter writing campaign on that too, but how many really want to camp the night before?

Need to know soon on that one....

Thanks...

Don -

I can bring 25-30 dogs, buns and fixins. Will also make a big pot of chilie. For breakfast, I would consider going with something that doesn't require cooking. I used to work for a homeless shelter and COSTCO used to donate day old muffins and pastries. Not really very healthy but...  :smt003 :smt003

Thanks Scott...

we may have to go this route with a little dis and little dat and smaller donations from different stores and such... That's a Great Start on the hot dogs!!! Thanks Again and stay tuned as to how were doing on this.

I still have some talking to do to Costco and other stores, but the problem is their hit everyday by charities and whatever...

I should have started this process a couple of months ago as ya have to go thru channels and I am doing that, ( Actually going straight to Raley's Headquarters with a letter tomorrow...) were just a little behind on this one and that's unfortunate as there is going to be many peoples to feed...

Keep the idea's and menu items coming....

they supposedly just started planting trout, so those guys might start biting by the time we get there.  i think after this weekend's FnC at DV we might find out more about what is biting.

Unfortunately, I think the planting is taking place down by the dam.  That's a fairly good paddle for the vets.

Here is the trout planting schedule for Del Vale...
09/13/10  1000 pounds
09/20/10   750 pounds
09/27/10   750 pounds

I marked a lot of fish around the launch ramp so not sure they are planting at the dam. The shoreline around Coyote Corner is a good place to soak Powerbait for trout so that is always worth a try. Also soaking bait for catfish in the south end would be an option. I may fish DV just before the event to get some intel. You are right about the dam being a long paddle especially if it is windy. Would have to get up there by 9 AM to make it worthwhile.

Have been there when they plant several times and they plant by the launch. When they do it really brings in the stripers. So a Popsicle should be on the line.

Don,

Maybe you could hit up one of the local news studios to see if they can help out.  In return they could do report on the great things happening.  Also, they could do a report before the event to see if anyone can donate.

My bad gentlemen, wasn't intentionally spreading misinformation, just trying to help out.  I knew they'd been planting and had read where it was witnessed down by the dam and thought to be because of high water temps.  It all made sense but that's what I get for gossiping.

Scott, where's Coyote Corner?

Michael

Coyote Corner is the picnic area just south of the kayak shed. BTW, all of the plants EBRP so some may be occuring at the dam. I didn't make it up there so can't say. Definitely trout around the ramp, but not biting trolled lures. Maybe one of those teacher study days on 10/8?

Thanks for the suggestion....  it will come together, just going to be a bit more labor intensive...

I was just panicking a bit, working on few things now and I will know better by next week were we stand on what we need. I may be asking a bit more from some of you soon as I can't be everywhere at once,

but we will Adapt, Improvise and Overcome....   :smt002

and Again, another shout out to who wants to camp there the night before, it wouldn't be Hetch Hetchy, probably a group site above the parking lot, just a place to crash and only for the night before, no guarantees on getting that just yet, but it looks good...

Not a Bad suggestion...

we could pull that one off,

Get the VA to bring some pastries stuff/Muffins, paper plates, utensils and Drinks, that would take care of Breakfast munchies and drinks for lunch...

I'm going to hit up a StarBucks in livermore for a Tub o Coffee
