Kinda feel like I'm WSB fishing today...  Line in the water and nothing going on...

I did sort of hear " unofficially " from EBRP Officials today....

                        :glasses6: :glasses7: :glasses8:

Park entry fees and launch fees will be waived....

but not the Quagga muscle, they share that with some other organization...

Also did not hear about the Daily Fishing permit, still waiting on that...

No,  :smt009 Is the answer for the waiver fee on the Group Camp site the night before, still waiting to see what the cost of that will be for the night, they are going to send the contract soon.

So, I need to know how many want to camp the night before as to see if this is worth it. It will be Eagles View Group Camp site.  It's above the parking lot as you come into  the park. A bit from the water, but has nice view, and would have to be cleared by 12 the next day....

It's nice they are waiving some fees, but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed that they are not waiving all fees. I wrote a ton of letters and it's almost been a full time job just for this....

I'm sure I'll feel better about it when I know about the Daily fishing permit fee...

Oh well, Guess I have much to learn about how this stuff works....  :smt012

So, who wants to camp the night before?

FOOD....

I have tried very hard, to get this all donated... I have succeeded in getting around $300 plus donated but we are still going to fall short and we are out of time to run around with letters and such.

 What we still need...

Kayakjack is going to pick up around 10 cutup chickens and 4 tritips, we are also going to have a big vat of Salsa made by kayakjack and will still need to pick up some extras like wood or charcoal for the grill, creamer, little stuff that is going to add up...

If Everyone coming to volunteer could pitch in $5 to $10 bucks each,  this should cover it, if anyone wants to donate a tax deductible donation,

*and please, no one break the bank, we have been passing the hat around lately...*

Just go to this site and donate, but specify that it is for " Northern California HOW "

 http://www.heroesonthewater.org/KasaHow.asp

Also, were looking for a couple of volunteers to make up a bunch of potato salad and another to make up some chili, this of course could be more than a couple doing this,

just have to know who is doing what...

EWB... please let us know about that corn!!!!

I really expect this to go over a 100 people, and also would not be surprised to see it go way over that...

We'll do our best, and I'm sure it will work out fine...

Thanks Again for what everyone is doing here, should be quite a show...

I also promise to make the next event on a weekend....

Kayaks and Gear...

Sunrise Mountain Sports has a scattered fleet after their sale...

about 8 Mailbu 2, triple Cobras, some different hobies, 2 outbacks, 2 outfitters, a quest here and there, a couple prowlers and many sit ins...

I'm sure we will be able to get everyone out on yaks who wants to go...

but I would like to have " Fishing Yaks " for those who really want to give this a good try, so, if you have a extra kayak, that is "EASY" for you to bring, please bring it...

and label your gear!!!!

Any extra rod/ reel set ups and terminal tackle for bait fishing which I think we will be fishing with anchovies and worms...

weather is looking to be pretty mild and even pre-frontal conditions with possible showers moving in the next day on the 9th....  :smt004

Sunrise is going to staff their Kiosk and will be a big help in PFDs and Paddles etc...

I still need to get liability forms scanned and sent out which EVERYBODY needs to sign, including volunteers...

I'm hoping that our pass will be something I will be able to send to you via e-mail...
I will not know about that till next week.

I received a message that the campsite would be $58...... for 35 people ?

is this a typo? I thought it was around $500 plus????? Also won't be able to clear that up till next week  :smt011

Going to need people to cook, set up fishing poles, help with paperwork and getting vets and family set up with kayaks and powerboats as well as guide...

I'm also going to look for getting bait donated, I hope this is not a problem too...

anchovies, worms, weights hooks....

That's all for now and always looking for more volunteers.....  :smt001

let me nag on the corn. Its sounded like a done deal...when they ask 'what are the dates again' I am taking that as a good sign....I can bring some gear (I assume trout stuff?)

Don, I was going to ask my dad to come along (assuming he's free). He was a Vietnam era vet. As much as he hates the fact that he was drafted he seems to have some good stories and smiles a bit when he tells them. He knows squat about fishing or yaks but he can lend a hand any other way that needed (cooking, etc). Let me know if that is OK?

" Veterans of all conflicts... "

There will be plenty to do.... just let us know about the corn and of course if you need any help with it..

  Thanks

OK...  Good News...   :smt004

Looks like Parking, launch, Daily fishing permit fees will be waived....  :kick

Still have to pay for the Quagga,  I think that is $3

We do have the Eagles View Group Camp site and I have confirmed that it is going to be $ 58 bucks for the first 35.... I think were good, we'll see how many use it, divide, and please resend to yours truly...  :smt002

I'll take care of the $200 refundable deposit, so Mooch, no scratching initials in the picnic tables....   :smt018

And the site is reserved for the next day so we need to vacate by 12 the day of event.

Still working on getting the food worked out,

Any volunteers for potatoes salad and chili?????

I'm pretty sure I just scored 20 Bags of Anchovies from George at

Bay Tackle in El Cerrito    Thanks George    :smt006

we still need 5/0 hooks and other bait like worms and power bait if anyone wants to try for trout..

But midday warm water tells me, long lining anchovies... Right FrankFishing?

I don't know if there is going to a prefish out there next week, I'm kinda injured right now, so getting out on a kayak, ain't gonna happen for me. I do hope to get out there Wednesday, midday to round up a few more logistic things and final talk with the staff.

****I will also need "ALL VOLUNTEERS" to send me an e-mail ( Look on my member profile, it's there ) so I can send you a pass that you will need to print out and present to the gate for parking and fishing permit.****

The pass I'm using is my HOW business card, very colorful, but a Black and white copy will be just  fine...

If ya don't have a printer or way to do this, let me know and will work out something with the gate and a envelope with your name...

I hope volunteers that can, take advantage of the camp site as that will lessen the quagga muscle inspection the next morning. I'll find out when the station closes on Thursday.

Things are looking good,

CORN IS SECURED!!!! Got a couple cases being packed for us Wed. The tricky part is the pick up. Anyone in the east bay avail on Thurs to swing by the 'packing shed' located in Brentwood. I can get you the directions and who to ask for. Its just a long haul for me (coming from the south bay).

Don I will also bring a bag of charcoal for the BBQ (let me know if its not needed, or if I should bring something else)

maybe it could also be gotten by someone, maybe me again if I'm camping, heading up Thursday to camp that night,,,

have to go over Vasco rd from there I believe...
