:smt011 Well I don't want to bring anyone down I need to give tribute to a real good old girl named "Lily".
Lily was going on 14 yrs old when she passed in her sleep early Sunday morning. I can only vouch for her last 9+ years and she was the best damn dog a guy could ask for. Lily was 1/2 Rotti 1/2 German Shepperd.
110 lbs. of the best rug I ever owned. When I first met Lily she belonged to my Ex and was the worst example of a big dog. She ate or chewed on everything. I witnessed a 10 speed bike that looked like it had been in a car wreck after she got done with it, hose-bibbs ripped out of the wall. Stuff like that. She would try and break down the 6 ft fence to attack anything in a uniform- mail,PG&E, tele,,,,,. Any one was suspect. 6 months later her and Shirl moved in. I brought Lily up to my 5 acre unfenced property and dumped her, and a whole beef femur from the butcher, into the front yard. She was happy as a clam. Took her all of two weeks to figure out there was nothing to get out of, She didn't have to escape. She became the most mellow laid back thing you could imagine. The last few years in Tahoe winters were hard on her. When we moved here she was in heaven with the mild temps. I had noticed her breathing was a little labored earlier that day but thought she was hot from laying in the afternoon sun. From what the vet said heart failure was more then likely. So raise a glass to good old Lily and thanks for letting me pay her tribute.

Not much more a good girl like that would want from life...and you were the one to give it. My family always believes dogs are bodhisattvas...so when she went its cause she couldn't help you on your path anymore...and off to enlightenment she goes

Emotions always get the better of me when I talk about wonderful dogs who are no longer around. That's not to say they aren't with us-I've got a pack that lives in my heart.

If you can give your companion a life you would like-then you did well.

Lilly-thanks for being such a good girl to our Randall.
