Left town at about 9:30 with Fuzz for an ab run.  :smt015 Stopped at a couple chinese bakeries in San Francisco and got some breakfast and lunch.  Not wanting to waste anytime driving (but we still did), we finally decided to dive Reef Campground.  Dove around a relatively small area probably measuring every legal ab.  Finally decided on two limits that measured from 9 1/8 to a little over 9 1/2".  Fuzz couldn't get out of the water without shooting something, so he went out to deeper water and in about an hour shot a couple lings, a China and other rockfish.  He's just  :smt027 like that.  Stopped in S.F again for some pho, but they ran out of soup, so had to make do with some stew and bun cha.  Still, was so looking forward to a hot bowl of pho though.  Seriously, who ever heard of a pho place running out of soup.  :smt012

Nate

Oh, I did have an exciting encounter.  I had torn a small hole in my suit on my previous dive.  There is a decent "L" shaped rip measuring approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"  in my wetsuit bottoms.  As I'm breathing up for my last dive I fell a sharp scratch on my exposed skin on my leg.  I'd seen seals throughout the day and thought one of those buggers had mistaken me for a willing female...again.  As I jump up looking wildly, Fuzz pops his head up and looks at me wondering why I have such a startled look.  I look quickly in the water followed by a 360 turn of the body.  I look up and see a stupid seagull doing a fly-by about 15' above the water.  It was then that I realized the seagull had mistaken my exposed skin as a piece of floating meat and the f@$Ker pecked me.  I thought it'd broken skin, but Harold assured me (chortling through his snorkel) that skin was not broken.

sorry, no pics were taken.

We didn't go out there.  We were shore diving and there'd be no way anyone can convince me to kick that far.  We stayed north of the reef and dove around the exposed rocks in that cove.

Fun day... we were so wiped out walking up that hill that we weren't in any mood to take pics.   :smt005

Highlights of the day:
Trying to talk each other (and ourselves) out of diving.
Trying to talk each other (and ourselves) into diving.
Going diving anyways - "generally regret not going diving more than having gone diving"
Morning food detour in SF.
Finding a lingcod tucked away in a nice cave.
Ling disappearing when returning with speargun.
Checking the same empty cave half a dozen times over course of the dive.
Finally shooting ling in cave at end of the day!
Seagull accosting Nate.
Mid-dive scallop snacks.
Managing to stab myself with a dead rockfish.
Out of shape, struggling to make it back up the hill.
Getting to top & finding out Nate left gloves at bottom.
Retrieving said gloves.
Managing to pull quality 9"+ abs from a high-pressure spot.
Night food detour in SF.
Good time just hanging out & enjoying a day on the coast...

Here's a driveway pic I snapped of some of the catch.
Shot the B&Y and China to taste test in a steam-off.   :smt001

Nate's abs were about the same... just bigger...   :smt012

Great report.  Right when I was formulating just the right amount of crap to give Nate for no pics, Harold comes through with the money shot.  Nice.   :smt007

Finally shooting the ling at the end of the day!  - Love it.   :smt001
