Google Earth has got to be one of the most amazing programs ever created.  There's all these layers that cover just about everything (including the CA MPAs  :smt009).

For us there's one that shows all the NOAA nautical charts.  It shows an icon on the screen for where the chart is located.  If you click on the chart icon, it opens up into the chart.  Wow!  There's many ocean related layers.  I like the one of the side scan sonar of the shipwrecks.

To get there from Google Earth, on the side-bar panel there's a button called "Earth Gallery."  Push it and it brings you to a menu of a gazillion different layers all labelled by category.  Go to the "ocean" one and pick "EarthNC NOAA charts."

Cool stuff......maybe I'm the last guy around to find out about these layers?  Sorry if this is old news.

I couldn't find the EarthNC NOAA charts for some reason, can you take a screen shot of where to turn on that option please?  :smt002

I did find the Animal Tracking option, which funny enough showed a GWS off the SMC! (well, it was waaaaaaaaaaaay far out, but still was funny).

Al,

The first pic is GE as it opens.  On the sidebar on left is a button called "earth gallery."  After you press it (pic 2) the "narrow by category" section has "featured" selected by default.  In the "explore, search and discover" window, the link to the EarthNC NOAA charts is the third one down.  If you selected "ocean," I think it would be one of the first links displayed.  Hope that helps.
