im no fancy cook or anything and i dont know which ingrediants compliment onenother but i threw yesterdays ling in some foil then into the cue and it came out great , even my non fish eating girlfreind was all over it , heres what i did , its kinda random:

on flat foil i slapped like 4 strips of raw bacon flat
then over the bacon i layed down some cuts of red onions
then a lil bit of fresh garlic
then the ling fillet over it
pepper/salt/chilepowder over the fillet then a rub with olive oil
wrapped it up then tossed it in the BBQ

it came out great , the bacon grease gave the fish a smoked flavor along with the sweetness of the red onions , lingcod is good all byitself n all but i felt like playin around , i think this would be good for camping in the mountain lakes with fresh trout.

Yeah dude, bacon is like butter...it goes with EVERYTHING!

I like it BnB, I'll try this with some ling the next chance I get (or the next time I'm out of panko & coconut)

thanks!

i thought about that but had my faith in the fact that the bacon was on the bottom getting the most heat , it tasted cooked and didnt have a rubbery texture so i think so ,  but then again im a non crispy bacon eater and usually take a few strips off out the pan before they get all crunchy , maby pre cookin it would be a safer option? never wanna mess around with pork
