It's blatantly obvios that not everyone views our sport the same way. For instance, my wife, if she ever finds out about this I'll play hell getting back in salt water. Especially with my son. No way. One of the last things she said before we left was "if you get our son eaten I'll kill you". I think I'll keep this whole thing to myself. No way I want to test her.

We were in the water at Ft. Ross the next day without much second though at all. There are risks in everything. If it's worth it to you...go! It's a call everyone has to make for themselves.

At least you're in one piece Adam. Thank your lucky starts again and maybe go play the Mega Millions Lotto.  :smt001
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

After his great performance on the water in-the-face of the Landlord, it's no big surprise he did so well in front of the camera. Great interview presence FishCharmer!

"Sorry to hijack the threat."

Intentional or typo?  Either way pretty funny.

the media is attacking me harder than that effin shark!  they will not leave me alone,,,,,i've turned down many TV shots and all interviews. Allen wrote the article you're reading and NBC followed me home, so i let them have the one. I've told my nephew Chad to do wahtever he wants(mayGETaHOOK-UPoutOFit)who knows?
I AM DONE with them ALL.= it is not a glorifing situation for me, as the clicks of the clock go by, i realize that if that thing would have hit it from any other direction then it did, pinning my chest into the seat of my kayak, if i had not had the "high-back PFD" w/all that extra bulk in the front. I dont think i would have stuck in that spot for as long as i did, enabling me to grab hold of something. That something was what saved my life.
My chin is healing now, although painfull&infected it is. I will answer the questions you guys asked as i read through the whole thing.
Please be patient, I got lotsa work to do(@work) I got alot of recounting and reflecting to do, and i would love to do it here, where I know you guys understand the seriousness of this.= THAT THING WANTED FOOD and KNEW SOMETHING WAS ALIVE&KICKING.  :smt009 (in its mouth!!)

Sounds like it's time to go incognito for a few days Adam, a little soul-searching up in the Redwoods might do some good right now.

Hey Adam.  You need to get this straight.  I said fish for THRESHER SHARK with a REPALA!  Not fish for a WHITE SHARK with a PROWLER!  It's an important distinction.
I'm glad you're OK and you're a star.

Adam,
I’m glad you don’t feel any obligations to anyone right now - take care of you and yours and let the drama glommers fall where they may.

On a personal note, even though I am new to NCKA, I’ve read, laughed, and learned from your posts for nearly a year now.  Although we’ve never met, I do somehow feel like I know you and many of the other regulars on this board.  It’s been the constant info from members like you who’ve generously helped me begin to close the huge gap of knowledge I possessed before finding NCKA and kayak angling in general.  This is why I’ve come to call all of you my “forum friends” and have been known to recount the exploits, the conquests and the sometimes hilarious missteps of this community to those close to me as if they happened to people I’ve known my whole life.  I can’t explain why the sense of community is so easily fostered here – why Mooch’s battle, Eugene and Nathan’s “basking shark” and now this event – seem to strike such a chord with me, but these are things I’ve come to take very personally.

This is why, for reasons I do not understand, your close call has consumed my thoughts for days now.  It has made me realize I have brothers I’ve never met and teachers whose voices I’ve never heard.  In these days while you are taking inventory of all you have and all you almost lost, know that there are guys out there like me, guys you don’t even know, who are so relieved you are such a bad ass.  This forum and this planet are better with you around.

-Anthony

Adam, IF YOU HAVE ANY WOUNDS THAT ARE INFECTED GET THEM SEEN TO/ ANTIBIOTICS!!!!!!Most post attack complications are from infection. These shouldnt be treated like a common wound. I know youre probably getting advice from everyone, but I had to tell you this.I rarely, possibly never, get infections from cuts, and I do a poor job of attending to them, but these are different. I had some that wouldnt heal and kept gettin infected for over a year after the attack. Early treatment is crucial.
