I just wanted to double check - it is my understanding that minnows are NOT allowed on this lake.  Assuming I'm understanding it correctly, it appears from what I found in the sportfishing regs, they are not allowed, correct?  Beardsley is considered to be in the Sierra District.

4.30. BAIT FISH USE IN THE SIERRA AND NORTH COAST DISTRICTS.
Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish shall not be used or possessed for use as bait in the Sierra and North Coast Districts.
(a) In Donner, Fallen Leaf and Tahoe lakes Lahontan redside, tui chub, Tahoe sucker, Lahontan speckled dace, mountain sucker and Paiute sculpin may be used only in the same lake where taken.
(b) In Shasta Lake only golden shiner, red shiner, fathead minnows, mosquitofish and threadfin shad may be used or possessed for use as bait.
(c) Crayfish shall not be used for bait in the Pit River and all tributaries between Pit 3 Dam (Lake Britton) and the Fall River-Cassel Road Bridge at Fall River Mills, California (includes Hat Creek and Fall River and their tributaries).

Was hoping Jeff/Jeffrm20 would make it up since it's fairly close to home for him.  Will keep those fingers crossed.

Sorry we won't be seeing you Pat.  Hope things are well!

Who's going home with a new locator from Lowrance?

Is that a raffle prize or a prize for placing?

Yeah, I sure tried like heck to recruit but my efforts went for not.  Oh well, guess they don't know what beautiful scenery and great camaraderie they'll be missing.  :smt002

For Saturday Sara, Jeff and I plan on going to the Clarks Fork of the Stanislaus river to do some stream fishing.  I cant find the exact location we will be heading too, but here is a rough estimate on Google maps of where we plan on being

Having basically grown up fishing along HW 108, I finally made it up to Clark Fork this summer - actually just a couple of weeks ago.  Lots of fish to be had, they stock it pretty good.  Al, does the picture below look familiar?  BTW, that is a FABULOUS picture of you and Sara!
Nope, but that pic does look cool though!!!  I cant really explain how to get tho this spot Sara's dad took us too last year easily, but its very close to the link I gave.  Its a very nice pullout spot with picknic tables and a bathroom.  You can park many many places along the road and access the river, but this is a fun spot to just chill and hike around fishing.

Any tips on what to use?  I know they can be slayed with salmon eggs, but find that too easy.  Wanted to try some spinners or rooster tails this time.

This will be one of the many prizes taken home by the 1st place angler :smt002

2nd and 3rd will also have a fine bounty to claim :smt003

See Ya There,

"wife is rather pissed at me in general"  :smt009

Buy her some flowers, tell her how much she means to you and let her know that you will probably bring home enough prizes to more than cover the cost of the trip :smt005
If that doesn't work go the other route and just go without her - deal with her later :smt044

no, actually, that's pretty much standard.  she's either pissed at me, disgusted at me or incensed at me.  pissed off at me is about as good as it gets :)

All,

What do you think the odds are of getting a campsite that will hold a camper if I get there Saturday eve/night?

If you thinks it's zero I'll find a level spot somewhere outside of the day use area.

See you up there.

We never made it that far up Clark Fork road.  Instead we hiked down to the confluence of Clark Fork and the middle fork of the Stanislaus.  We easily caught 15-20 fish on that stretch.  We caught 72 over 2.5 days, keeping only 7.

The picture that I took was on Clark Fork.  If you stop at the 2nd bridge, look at the "downstream" side of the bridge, and I climbed down into the canyon and took the pic looking up at the bridge.  That hole held like 30 fish, it was unbelievable.  I stopped after 2 because it was like shooting fish in a bucket.

Any tips on what to use?  I know they can be slayed with salmon eggs, but find that too easy.  Wanted to try some spinners or rooster tails this time.

Definitely try some Panther Martins.  They are a brand of spinners, much like Rooster Tails.  Oddly enough, I've had great luck with black that have orange spots.

Worms would be another option.  I've done well on worms when other things haven't worked.

Wooly buggers might be another option too.  I rarely fish them but know they are very effective.

Ben, hope you're able to get back into the wife's good graces and are able to make it up early.  Would love to BS with you around a campfire.
