What an awesome day. It was really great to meet all of you I've talked to through this site. Thanks to all who helped my wife out with a kayak, and the gear to make her paddle comfortable. Her second time out OTW will not be her last. By the way, she saw those things called a Hobie, she thinks one would be cool? Anyone near Sac want to meet up for a demo day? I see one in my future.
It was great to finally meet you Joel. I know we will meet again OTW soon. Be strong a fight through this.
That fish table is really cool too. Oh yea, first blood on it was from my catch Sunday. It works well. Thanks go out to Sledge for getting me on the one tiny rockfish in Capitola.
I'll post pics later once I get them to my computer. I've got a few at the bouy where only a few brave souls tried the Mississippi Moonshine, including Mooch.

GREAT DAY, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT CAUSE....One of the highlights for me was being able to take my daugheter (Maddy) on her first YAK ride. In the salt no less. Mom still isn't aware we actually went outside the JAWS!

Great to see ya all!

Mississippi moonshine. Does that mean you're from Mississippi?

So Cal born. Been to Mississippi 1 time. Got that from some Pro Stock motorcycle drag racers a while back. I think it was better when  I first got it, but it is still potent.

Hi all....I apologize for not chiming in sooner. Just been catching up with some rest after an epic day spent with NCKA. What can I say that I haven't said before = I'm overwhelmed and very thankful to have such a HE-UGE family support. I wasn't sure at first that I was going to make it to SC due to my chemo session just 2 days before but I knew I had to be there and personally thank each and everyone of you for simply being there! (I know many of you drove a long way to make the event! Thank you for doing so! :smt008)

It was nice to finally meet Brent and his wonderful wife Raquel as well as Jim and Ana. I truly appreciate what you guys have started and I will continue to support the Pay it Forward Paddle event! You folks are first class!!!
I also want to thank the A-hulls for helping out and holding the party site down. I heard later on that the cops were trying to boot us out of the beach because the "legalities" (no money exchange in the beach law) but Andy and the crew managed to sweet talk 'em....(I would have paid money to see that :smt003) Many thanks to Deva, Andy, EWB,Ravensblack, Scott GB2 (sorry if I missed anyone) and the rest of our sponsors for donating ton's of good stuff. It was nice seeing kids win skateboards!! Truly enjoyed being out on the water with the paddlers at the mile bouy! Thanks to Capt. Hitler (agarcia) and his sidekick Angel for taking me out on the support boat.....we managed to make it back to the SC pier running on fumes...was fun seeing art in a worried state of mind :smt003 The on the water bar at the mile bouy with Al peddling around with the boom box was classic - can't wait to see the video on that :smt044 And as far as the on the water pics, Angel, Art and I had 3 cameras going and I already had my sister post my shots in facebook....I will try to post 'em on NCKA as well but it might take a while so please bear with me.

Special mention to Karen and Mark from Hook1 for all the cool shwag and for the Kayak donation! They've been a part of our community for a long time and have been a great sponsor to all our events. I'm very proud to represent them and I hope we can all continue to support them!

Can't say enough great things about the pot lok - NCKA never fails! Thank you all for dishing it out :smt002 Howard, Art, Angel, Al and the rest of you who took pics during the event - thanks for capturing the moment!

LOVE YOU ALL!!!Joel / Mooch

THANK YOU NCKA !! FROM THE LOTILLA FAMILY!!!!

I'm still recovering from this weekend!!  :smt002 :smt005 :smt044

What an AMAZING day!!!

So glad Joel made it out!

Had an AWESOME time meeting new people, seeing buddies that I have met before, hanging out with my neighbor Andy and his girl Mary on their longboards, leaving Sledge in charge at the launch while we were ferrying yaks from the beach to the launch...come back and he is all wide-eyed and has a bag FULL of cash!!

Shots of whiskey at the buoy, LapuLapu's margaritas were KILLER, paddling for awhile with jedmo's buddy who looked a little shaky...he was all good, but we wanted to make sure!!

Sledge striking FishHunter poses on FishMaster1's boat, Gabe/El Dorado cracking me up, Stoggie getting all sappy out there in a beautiful touching bromance way... :smt004

Too many good memories to post them all up!!

The A-hull love both on and off the water!! Andy you did an amazing job, was great to meet Brenda and your cousin...proud to be your friend and to have your BEAUTIFUL fish-cleaning table in my front yard!!

I was a little "tired" after the raffle and needed some help from some non-partying friends to get me, my car, and the table home...that cut short my time at beach a little bit, but at least I got home in one piece with out any tickets!!  :smt002 :smt044

I got some sweet pics that I will post up after work!!

Thanks again to EVERYBODY who made this happen!!! Was DEFINITELY a group/team effort and every little bit of work that so many chipped in really made it a success!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Great pics Hojo!

Anyone got on the water pics of the floating party?

I reviewed the pics, got alot of really good shots.  I'm putting a slide show together.  I have a bit of editing to do (Angel took a few pics with his thumb in the shot....there's also alot of random "scene" pics from the beach where he caught people with their eyes closed or they're shoveling food in their mouth.....that guy kills me)

Will have something this week.

Howard, can I use some of the beach shots you took?  Also anyone who has OTW video and wants to share pm me!!

..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

I shot quite a few picturtes...  I'll post some up here and you can take a look at my photobucet account (thats where I store fishing pics) and post some up here yourself if you'd like. the url is http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z68/pacifico_fishing/PayItForwardPaddle/

The day started out by having our boat prep'd by these two awesome fellas...

and

As we were about to leave one of their boats was coming back, had some engine problems, so we participated in the rescue

These guys at the Santa Cruz Boat Rentals were very friendly and provided excellent service.  I'm pretty sure that they donated the boat rental to us, the next time you feel like getting out on the water and don't feel like launching the yak you should definetely consider renting from them.  Prices seem to be very reasonable.

Mooch taught us a lot that day...what I remember the most though went something like "if you sprinkle when you tinkle..."

I thought the Quervo 1800 rigging worked well. Unfortunately I couldn't get the thresher to bite the Rapala.  :smt011
