I will be ab diving this Friday and Saturday, but will also be yakfishing with my kids on a tandem.
I am staying at a place called Hidden Pines campground, near Noyo bay.

What is a good launch site to yakfish?  Since I will be with my kids, I'd prefer a launch site that won't be too rough.

Any coves or protected areas (or relatively calm areas) I can fish with the kids?

thx!!!

Check with Jeff or Cate from Liquid fusion kayaking in the Noyo Harbor. They're big Ab hunters and have the the whole place dialed in.

John,

I don't mean to contradict Hawk, but although Cate and Jeff are awesome yakkers and great folks, they are not divers...unless they just began in the last few months.

I can give you a really good location for abs by launching at the Noyo harbor mouth and paddling about 15 minutes, but I don't want to broadcast it so send me a PM for that.

The best place to take your kids yak fishing (with ease of launch) is Caspar Bay.  Very easy Launch, there's fish there and the ab diving is good as well.  Also has a nice beach for the kids.

Theres many other spots as well:  Russian Gulch (really easy launch and beautiful) and Van Damme.  If your kids are hardy and the swell is low, a kayak cave tour at Van Damme is awesome.  You can do it yourself or hire Craig at Lost Coast Kayak Adventures.  He has a Van down there most days with all the gear.
