Casper 6/4-6/8 Pictures Added...a little bit of fish porn...

Well posted a hookup for Russian Gulch, but as I was driving by thought "Plans Change"  hadn't confirmed with anybody so decided to check it out...

First Impression was they have the best damn fish cleaning station I've ever seen...and it was calling for blood...arrived on Thur afternoon to high wind...walked down to the beach to check it out...walked up river and found the remains of "Casper Mill" I'm old school logger...took lots of pic's will add later...

went out around 7am to very bumpy water...paddled out and started marking fish in 13' FOW dropped a line and hooked a 15" cabbie, worked my way out as far as deemed kinda safe still inside the jaws, outside unfishable...  caught a grip of gofers kept a few, caught several underlings....man Need to change my name to "UNDERLING" with the wind whaling away and conditions from kind of good to way worse headed in to a large shore break!!!  After GS4 was not looking forward to it...but I like the adrenaline!!!  HELL YEAH!!!  wave picks me up and I'm thinking were in for it NOW...takes me side ways and I'm thinking repeat...hit bottom and I'm in 3"s of water...jump out and acted like that's the way u do it....

Next day sat was nice, well beter than the day before... got out by the jaws and started fishing 40-60 FOW caught numerous Rockies...and freaking underlings....

now sunday was the day...killer fishing 25 fish or more 3 reds 2 @ the same time another cabbie...and MORE UNDERLINGS!!! kept 8 fish... met a few yakkers not NCKA told um to check it out...Mad jack was one, fishes a lot up @ shelter...

Mon was blow out...I mean Blown out!!!...so decided I'd load up for Ab's...got out through monster shore break...and realized...this $h^t wasn't for me...so I just drifted around and soaked in the views took pics of surfers...and then started back in to some heart pumping surf...one surfer rides a wave all the way, right in front of me and there's a huge sea lion barking @ him as he paddles by asks "friend of yours" I say I hope so u just pissed him off...lion looks at me and gives me the nod of approval!!!  and left me alone...after Albion had me wondering...

Marty the local camp help introduced himself told me that it was molting and had harassed people on the beach the other day...Marty started asking about battery's, and I whip open my hatch and show him my back woods set up...told him to sign up and could see blow by blow sweet installs...he had picked up a double hull SOT and was looking to pimp it out...had caught yellow tail down in San Diego area on it...and I told him man u need to get out there and catch some fish u got some sweet fishing right out front....

Well got up late to more white caps...snuck out and caught a china and another cabbie...and called it quits done by noon...broke camp and thought need to come back here!!!  Great area to fish!!!  and on a flat day...ummmmm

Great writeup. Sounds like you had a blast.  It was nice meeting you at Albion, I am the one that DrHabanero introduce to you at the campsite. Sorry I did not have a chance to go out and fish with you and I'll try to hookup with you to do some ocean fishing.

Thanks for the great report!  I love this place--operators of the campground are very cordial & helpful.  Kayaks to rent if you need an extra for a friend.  Seems like the camp atmosphere is extra-friendly, especially to kids.  Good hot coffee and lots of hot water in the showers.  Reasonable rates for ultra-compact but nice campsites.

Nice. Caspar can be fun and profitable too. We came bqck in a low tide once when we were there and to my surprise someone must have dumped their boat. 2 rods with penn senators on them in great shape. It gets real deep out the middle not to far past the points it gets down to 200ft quick. salmon country. Thanks for the report Sledge. You from Blue Lake by mendo or Blue Lake by Alturas?

Yes the camp was above par...we should do a group hookup there and OWN the camp for the weekend...I was telling Marty "Local" of Albion last yr. and GS4 this yr saying "man if u had a bigger camp place NCKA would own you!!!" but after reflection...we could still do "Casper" and be cool...very, very, very nice location to fish...if someone sponsored a hookup...I'd fish...killer fishing...easier limits than any place yet!!!!
