I've had a few DoubleDay reports over the years.  It's an early morning crabbing run combined with an afternoon ab dive, salmon fishing on the Smith then crabbing the Mouth of the Eel, yakfishing the ocean twice in a day...  A DoubleDay is a special time when water conditions, time available, and personal energy levels allow for a more focused attack on the Madness.   :smt004

Yesterday it was a morning kayak demo day on Humboldt Bay followed by an hour soaking ab guts in hopes for a cabezon 30 miles south.  I got to peddle the Hobies for my first time - pretty cool, but I'll stick to paddling.  I also got to try some traditional kayaks that I've not previously been on.  I liked the T-15, but I also got good affirmation that my X is a great boat.  I'm not changing any time soon.   :smt001

I jammed over the hill to try for a bite in the tidepools.  The wind wasn't too bad, but there was a big bump on the water outside.  I enjoyed some inshore time, but no bites - it's just a matter of time.   :smt045

Great report and pics Eric!!

You live in a very special part of the world and it is awesome that you know it like the back of your hand...

I think there is something to be said for bonding/spending a lot of time with one place...even though the Capitola area doesn't have the world's best fishing I have really been enjoying getting to know the beaches, kelp beds and coastline a little bit more each time I go out...it's my backyard and it is special to me!!

Thanks again for sharing.

Sincerely,

Jim
