I have been doin gmy two weeks National Guard Annual Training at Camp Parks in Dublin.  I have never really thought much about the place other than convient.  Well I spent a week on one of the ranges out here and got to see a lot of interesting wildlife. I saw a pair of pheasants , tons of redwing black birds with great coloration, a few ducks, some great views, tons of lupen in bloom.  Today I got to see a ground owl about 15 feet from me.  Cute little dude.  I talked to the guys at range control and they told me there is a badger family out here as well.  Also some very large fat deer.  I look forward to getting back to the other side of the bay next week and going back to my normal job at the VA.

I have yet to see them, but the Range control has told me they are, mean and have attacked their work truck.

My brother and I were chased by a very large badger at the old Cotati Rod and Gun Club way back in '80 or '81.

Some of the older guys there warned us it was out there by the creek, but we thought they were just trying to scare us.  :smt005

The badger certainly scared the crap out of us! My dad also told me there was one just by the 200 yard range back then, but I don't remember ever seeing that one.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
