O.K. So now that I have been there and done that,

I was wondering if the seal was :

A. Being friendly and was just wanting to play.
B. Scared and running from something down below.
C. In heat and fending off intruders.
D On some sort of seal CRACK.

Just curious in case it ever happens again

I was thinking "B.  Scarred and running from something from below" at first.  It happened during the Shark Week marathon too, and the night before I had seen some guys trolling the seal decoy getting smacked from below.  There was a wounded seal pup that kept trying to jump in their boat and on their swimstep...I think they were in S. Africa.  Anyways, with these little guys I think they're just playing grab-ass with us.

As one who experienced another "worst fear" moment last year, I have to say it's a little liberating isn't it?
After the adrenaline and "holy s**t!" parts wear off and we can look back, knowing we came out of it none the worse for wear, it's not so bad to be able to say "ah, worst fear? BTDT."

...except now my worst fear is a getting boarded by a seal......

I'm stoked you made ti through the experience dry side up & got your fish too!

My biggest fear is fishing with Sean the NEXT time his little friend comes to call.

I think that would be some scary stuff to see one jump over you.  I saw you tube pic once (i think it might of been here with a great white chasing one).  that would scare me as well.

You are the 5th one including me that had a seal ram their yak up at Shelter Cove. Scares the sh$t out of you at first. Can't help but think SH3RK!!!  at first. I was hit in the rear end of my yak near the bell buoy. I've never heard of so many hit in one place. Hostile little buggers. They were all the smaller ones too. Better than a bull elaphant seal. What are you doing to piss off those suckers Eric?  :smt005
