Tried waterproof socks (Sealskinz) but my feet still got wet, so I returned them.

I don't mind being wet, but like my toes toasty and dry.
I was thinking either the Kokatat Launch socks or the Nomad booties.  But if if the water gets above knee-level during the launch, will water get into my toes?

I could buy Kokatat tempest pants and wear them over my 3mm FJ wetsuit, but don't want to buy them if it'll get too warm during the summer months.

Any recommendations?

I played around with the Kokatat Launch socks at the Quarry Lakes Paddle Fest.  It does not give a snug fit and has a pretty loose fit.  It has a draw string on top that you can tigthen, water can easily come in.  I wouldn't use them for a SOT kayak fishing day.

thx for the input... looks like I'm leaning towards the tempest pants over my 3mm FJ wetsuit.  Thx again !!

John, the Kokatat Tempest pants are surprising cool even in the summer.  I just wear a pair of boardshorts underneath.  Water evaporating off the pants keep'em cool and comfortable.

Kokatat Launch socks are specifically designed for launching and landing in knee deep water.  They're made loose so you can take them off easily when you're underway.

John, I'm not sure as to why you've return the sealskin socks (by the way which ones) but they've kept me warm as my second layer inside my tempest pants for winter season.  The tempest pants will work well for ya but you might want to rethink about the sealskin sock for those crazy, crazy freezing winter sturgeon months.

I know alot of folks our against waders. But if worn properly with a belt and air taken out you will be fine. I dont plan on swimming far in them just anough to get into the yak if I ever do get knocked off but after almost 5 years has not happened. Knock on plastic.

I am always the perfect temp in the breathable waders im sure the tempest pants our great but the price difference is alot and the waders can be used for well wading.

Get the Relief zipper option

Just slip in a container while your wearing the pants.

I didn't know that option was available.  Where can you get that and also, what's the cost?

I just called Kokatat's customer service.  They told me that the relief zipper option is about $110.  It's a pricey convenience which I can personally live without.  When I need to pee, I just release the velcro sides, pull down the front, and do my thing in a big bottle.  Just don't mistaken that for beer or lemonade in your bottle. :smt002

I think that is the general consensus, and why many use them on freshwater, but what happens when you get separated from your yak on the ocean?
