After a late start drove down to Moss in time to watch the boats running in from the wind

then scouted all the way up into san mateo coast and came home without getting wet

Only place that looked doable was Capitola but the place is mobbed Saw one yak fishing outside the kelp beds but couldn't get into hunting for parking spaces when what I went down for is salmon and grunting 5 or 6 miles into a headwind didnt appeal to me

Be nice if the wind lets up

Bummer...

I am hoping to sneak out to the Capitola Kelp tomorrow in between Daddy Duties, and hope the winds die!!

Thanks for the weather report!

Sincerely,

Jim

Capitola has been very nice this week, weather wise, I fished it twice. The fishing there is very slow. Yesterday I fished outside the kelp on what is usually a very good section of the reef. I caught one small brown rf, then I caught him again. Ten minutes later my buddy caught the same rf. I think he's the only brown out there or the only one hungry. Inside the kelp beds about the same, slow. A few small gophers here and there. Im hoping the rockfishing gets better soon or at least some Halibut start showing up.
Anyhow it nice to get out there when all else is blown out.
will keep tryin...aka-kimo

Capitola was the only place it would've been worth dropping in, in fact it looked like the wind misses it for some reason

Everywhere else was capping but there it looked good out a mile or more

Very tempting to launch there and head out to Soquel Hole but had to take the boaters' word that it was too blown out for that, plus not sure where to park etc and need to save my fish time for salmon

I might do the drive again Monday depending on the weather forecasts

You can park for free up the hill from the village by the train tracks and roll the yak down...If you don't got a lock for your cart you can ask Ed in the BaitShop to watch it for you...or drop it off and then drive up and park...if you are coming back and want to spend a day and park in front of my house and walk the yak down PM me and I will send you my address and details...I am just a block or two away from the train tracks...

I am off work on Monday and will hopefully be fishing also!!

Capitola is extremely sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds that pic up almost every day of the summer after 1pm.
