I went fishing for a couple hours today at New Brighton and caught this on fresh dead sardines and mackerel from yesterday. Released tired but unharmed.

i speared a 5 ft leopard one time and bled it immediately, the meat was ok steaked but i would never shoot another because they just do not die even if you cut them in pieces, its freaky, also the one i got was female with 5 unborn babies, i donated those to a school science class, and i dulled 3 knives trying to cut the shark apart. its like cutting sand paper.

never again i say never again!!!!

Just a heads up - I've been told it's bad for the vertebrae to be lifted by the tail, and the gutsack can spill around inside the body cavity. It might be best to support it with both hands next time...FYI.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

didn't think sharks had vertebrae

I believe they do - cartilage of course.

Anyway, I hope I didn't come as seeming like a d***. Just wanted to point it out.
We need to be kind to the small sharks so as not to piss off their larger cousins  :smt002

Yeah it is bad for there spines but shark teeth are pretty bad for my hand. This one was stronger and i could feel the muscle was supporting it pretty good. Or course I'm just holding him real quick for the picture.
