Guys,
Thanks for the reports and pictures but most of for the NCKA brotherhood.  That launch ramp was a nightmare but we all managed to get in and out of the water without a major incident due to the team work.  More fish would have been great but it was still an incredible day.  I can't wait for GS-4 and the chance to fish with such a great bunch of guys again.  I'll post up a few more pics as soon as I get my gear cleaned up and locate my camera.  I just pulled into the garage with the yak on top and left it.  This morning's project will be clean up and organize.  I'm sure the camera is in the car, I just haven't unloaded anything yet.

Great hookups have become redundant - that's a good thing.   :smt001

It was a great day, but the wind finally did me in at the end. One de-boweled shiner was my only hint of action.

Martin's engineering skills helped us all up that snotty ramp  :smt002

And, of course, it was another opportunity to meet some great people.

Left at 4:15a got home at 9:30p ... I've *got* to start fishing closer to home...

Nice pics, Sonny & Martin.  :smt001

So, my story is I decided late Thurs night it was a go since I figured out where to get some bait.

Got on OTW bright & early around 11am with a push down the mossy ramp from the Marin Co Sheriffs Dive Team who were doing training exercises. Dragged a dead smelt north to the near end of the cay, then drifted a live one back & met up with the group somewhere along the way.

Circled around with the crew for a bit and saw John hook up. It was his first hali, so he was a little anxious but handled it just fine - netted, gaffed, clipped on & pulled it onboard himself. All I did was coach him a bit with tips passed on to me from fellow NCKAers (eg FisHunter) over the last year. He already hammered the fish a few times with a gripper but I lent him a club to make sure the lights were out for good. Nice solid fish.

I have to admit, I got a little 'butt envy' after that so I circled around the vicinity for a while but only managed to pull up a mini schoolie - a fighter, though. The others started making their way back in and I wasn't having any hali luck so, with plenty of daylight left, I took a little scenic paddle south.

Passed this place on the way.

wound up within reach of Angel Island. Snapped this pic after starting the cardio-paddle back.

Got a little burnt from fighting the wind & current but as I rounded the final point just south of the pier, I figured, what the hell, may as well drop one more fresh lively bait for the final stretch back to the ramp. Approaching the north side of the pier the line loaded up - at first felt like a snag, then it was on.

Right around here, maybe even closer to the pier - almost home.

She put up of a fight but I won in the end, pulled 'er up & took care of biz. Couldn't get a perfect measurement OTW but it was about 30in.

I thought they'd all been long but Sonny hailed on the radio, followed by waves & cheers from the parking lot. Sonny & Dave came down & helped me haul out - Dave fully immersing himself in the task.  :smt002  Thanks again, guys.
New hawg trough de-virginized with the fish exceeding its length -  final count on terra firma: just under 31 in.

Caught on a smelt with 3-way rig weighted with this.

Thanks again, everyone, for another great NCKA hook-up.

Big congrats on the catch Martin, Aaron, and John. That first halibut on the yak
is special. I'm sure you will always remember it. BTW, I guess I will not be the
only ninja fisherman out there anymore. :smt005 :smt005

Dave, shame on you. Not only undressing in public but showing your stuff on the
web, Pam will be on you for that one. :smt003
