Launched a little after 9 am to glass and a gorgeous sky. I noticed the water was up about 2 feet since my last trip. I headed straight to my spot. Out in the middle of the lake I found an island about 6 feet under the surface and began throwing crankbaits at it. About my fifth cast I get my first spot of the day. After about ten more cast I keep heading to the "spot".

I follow my waypoint on the GPS and start cranking the area. Lots of hookups and lost fish. In my little 50 yard stretch I get a half dozen bass in about an hour. But all cookie cutters. I decide to explore new territory and head further down towards Angels Creek area. I get bored catching a few more small bass and decide to troll for trout. Within 5 minutes of trolling I get hooked up with a fiesty little trout that spazzed out like a koke and at first looked like one but turned out to be an ugly trout. I continue to troll for 30 minutes and give up, back to bass.

I rework back to the spillway around 1:30pm after the bite shut down and go about 30 minutes between fish. Pulled out of the water at around 3.

Ended the day with 19 small bass and one trout. Perfect weather. Should have hit it earlier.

Lots of boats on the water today.

Oh and it also looks like Melones is getting some brand new docks, see end of pics.

WTG on some bass action Jeff. Did you try different lures or stuck to one that
worked all day?

Tried a few, couldnt find the patience for plastics, 3 different crankbaits did the trick.

Great action shots too BTW. I tried once to show boat my halibut last year and I
lost the fish doing so. :smt010 I guess I need to catch more fish to practice on
taking some action shots.

OK.  Where is the rest of the Monster truck, you showed us the tire?  Or was that just the spare?

Hey Jeff,

Missed you there. Decided to go at the last minute and arrived about 10-10:30. Tried the radio but it was my spare and I think the batteries were weak as it wasn't behaving right. Asked a guy where the spillway was, "Take a right, looks like your going to the end of the earth"...  :smt044

Nice day, picked up a little SMB.

We'll connect yet! Thanks for motivating me to get out  :smt003
