Got an invitation from my friend to go Salmon fishing at Bodega Bay on Saturday.  Who could pass-up an opportunity to fish for this great fish especially we don't know for sure how long the Salmon season will be open!  The weather wasn't that great with 8 -10ft swell and about 10mph wind.  Heard on the radio that some boats had to return to the harbor due to weather.  luckily, my friend boat is big enough to handle this weather condition.  Most fish were caught today in 300ft of water (about 5 miles out from Bodega's head).  I caught one 18" shaker on the Hoochie, lost one keeper size right at the boat due to tangled line, and one 28" Salmon followed me home.  :smt003 My friend's uncle caught his limit, and the other 2 caught 1 each.  Heard on the radio that most boats didn't fare too well today but caught their limits last Wednesday due to nice weather and the calm sea.  Here are some pictures of the fishing trip.

Awesome job Sailfish! Looks like a better grade of fish up north. Gotta love those early season krill fish! Best eaters all year.

We bleed and gut the fish right away and put them on ice.  Their stomaches are full of Krills.  Hope they come closer to shore so we can catch them from kayak.

I hear you there brother! Hope the season holds out and the fish come on up the line a bit. I caught a nice 15# model on an iron while rockfishing last year and it killed me not to be able to keep it.

Good job with the gutting and gilling. I try to at least bleed most of my fish on the water and find it makes a huge difference in the table quality. (unless it feels really sharky that is) :smt002

Sailfish:  Congrads.  I think I seen that Striper out there yesterday.  I think we came back to port together.  I was in a 22' Farallon.   We got two for two.   DcBatt

Congrat on your catches too.  At one point, I counted about 2 dozen of boats out there and we're "amazed" as some boat were too small for this weather condition.  So which one is your boat in the picture below?
