I need to look into good ways of getting into them predictably...it was fun.

I am writing an artcle on it bt I guess I can let it out here:

1. Drop line with bait on it

2. Park kayak on shore

3. Don\\\'t pay attention

4. Land big cat!!!

That\\\'s the truth!  It was suprising to see how well live minnows work for catfishing.  I thought catfish preferred dead stinky bait.

Based on Bill's Picture of his 20 pound Cat, Seanns cat looks atleast 25 pounds especially with that big beer gut.  Would've been interesting to know how much it weighed.

I've heard when you see bubbles coming up, that it's a catfish below.  Anyone know if this is true or not?

It shows up on the fish finder also, you can see the trail up from the bottom. If I'd have to guess, I'd say it was some sort of underground spring but don't know for sure.

Algae and decomp on the bottom can generate gasses... bubble can occur without fish or springs.   They can be set off by currents, water temp changes, sunlight, etc.

I would agree with bigred, probably algae decomposing.  I wish I would have weighed the kitty, but I wanted to release it and it wasn't going to cooperate with any sort of weighing.

Mine was way bigger, Sean had some sort of tricky fishsniffer pose going!!  :smt003

I thought gas bubbles where a sign of the lake "turning over" all the grass/algae dying off??

Bill:  The second shot is a bit of a sniffer-shot, but it was a big fish, although yours was definitely WAY bigger!  I like you cat article, as goofy as it seems, its pretty much how I caught mine too!
