Had a few unexpected hours off and decided to try big break and see if the largemouth were ready yet. In the water from 9:00 to 1:00. None by the docks, but found one on a spinnerbait on the edge of the tules.  I tried to duplicate the action,  casting parallel to the tules and letting the spinnerbait drop when it got pushed into the tules by the current.  But  I could not duplicate the results.  I was getting short bites out in the channel so I tried a grey swimbait.  That also got me short bites, which felt like stripers, so I tried a white swimbait and got bit on every cast for about 15 minutes.  Once the wind died down the bite did too,  but I still got bit every 10 minutes or so.  Awesome day, I wish I could go back tomorrow.
One 22" was the only keeper striper and he came home for dinner,  the rest were small but fun.  The largemouth  had a bloody beat up tail so he must have been working on a nest lately.

Slow is an understatement.  I was up to 8 skunks in a row until last week.

 Tailwalk,
I have always launched out of big break marina for 10 bucks.  They open at 6:00.  But there is a free launch at EBRPD shoreline park on Big Break Rd in Oakley next door to the marina which I have been meaning to check out.  I was just about to P.M. Grumpy about possibly going tomorrow to see if the striper bite is still on.  I will be starting at 6:00 and stopping around 1:00 since the weather report says there will be 13 mph winds starting around 1:00. You are welcome to come if you can.  P.M. me if you want,  but I will be out for a few hours with the family so I'll be back to the computer this afternoon.    Opie

opie..is this the park that is on the right side as you drive in towards the Mairna? I went thru that parking lot by mistake my first time and I didn't see access to the water, although I didn't get out of my car..
I am curious to see what you find as I have seen the pier from the water side..saving the $10 would be great cuz I thought the Marina was kind of mess up for charging us the same as PB..
there is a $6 launch closer to the Antioch bridge which is actually nicer but it is right onto the San Joaquin river so just a little longer commute.

I will be curious to see what you find.
thanks
