After posting a last minute hookup last night me and fishinmike met at the parking lot around 7 a.m. Went through inspection okay but Mike had to do some touch up clean up before passing the inspection. It was mostly overcast today with mild to breezy winds. I trolled using Shad Rap for nada but Mike did hookup not too long after our launch (I'll let him tell you the details). The mild breeze somewhat gave us a workout and we decided to "land" to take break around 10 a.m. for snacks at Honker Bay. No fish after that until we called it quits around noon.

No fish for me but I had a good time on the water and managed to get some cool shots of Mike in action. Heres some pics of the day.

Btw - On our way back to the parking lot we saw one of the shore anglers walking with a monster trout. Had to be at least 12 lbs. maybe bigger. HUGE!

I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I think Frank's pictures tell the story. I was trolling a fire tiger pattern rapala on our first trip up the lake. This is the first time I've caught one of these fish with the worn down tail and fins. I didn't know if I'd want to keep it, but it looked strong, fat and healthy when I got it in the net. I thought it was smaller at first because it didn't seem to pull that hard. I guess the lack of proper fins and tail makes a difference. I have one more picture from later in the day.
It was a nice day of fishing with lots of paddling, my arms are reminding me of it right now. Good to see you Frank as usual, the new truck looks great and thanks for catching those pictures.
