Sonny Secret Bait for catfish at that lake are Hot Dogs with a Chili or Nacho Sce.

Sonny - I think catfishing may be better in the summer or fall when the weather/water is warmer. Lafayette res has some big cats who often hold in the south end or near the dam. I fished there with some yahoos from Pittsburg in a PB who pulled in several in the 5-10# range on chicken livers. BTW, when I was carpooling with Flyaker last month, he said carp were better eating than catfish (less muddy tasting). I don't eat cats or carp so wouldn't know.  :smt102 Scott

It's all depend on the locations where you caught them and what's their diets.  My friend's sister knows how to prepare Carps and it's delicious but way too many bones for me!  :smt003

This is the time of year for eating catfish, at least out of a typical pond. Very tasty. By the end of June they start picking up off flavors that are pretty foul.  Larger, deeper, lakes with a lighter algae bloom might be more forgiving. Never tried carp ...

Hard for me to accept that I caught the only catfish in that lake.  :smt012 But then again that was in the 80's bank fishing. The fish was 37"long. My uncle always remind me that I still hold the record between us uncles and cousins. :smt001 BTW, if it helps at all in anyways, I used clams for bait. :smt002
