I will have to see which one I choose Salt Point or Ocean Cove but definitely one or the other. I haven't stayed at SP for a while now and do like this campground a lot so I will probably go here and hit Ocean Cove next time. I have a spot I want to fish on the north end of the park where I dove last fall that looks like a great place to fish in some deep rocks close to shore with little kelp to get tangled in.

.7 miles north of the north point of Stump Beach is where the closure starts. I think thats around the little vista platform  at Fisk Mill cove. From there south, its open and yes Dr. there are some big abalone in there on the south point if you can dive 30+. Its where I found mt first ten. Upside down in a cave up in a ceiling crack.

30ft. sounds like the depth for the season. Gonna try to get my abs a little deeper this year to increase the chances of getting a beast.

I hear people talk about chicken cove.  Is chicken cove part of the closure area??

BB, if the weather and ocean are cooperating, I'm off that weekend, so I'd be up for something. I don't know if Reef is completely closed now or just seasonally. I saw a notice on the entrance last year but never stopped to read it. Saw it on a couple entrances last year...  :smt012 Salt Point is open, so that might be the other best option. I'll keep an eye open, and if moma nature cooperates, I'm up for it. Oatmeal...........hmmm, that one of your tricks to lure em in? I like it.

I personally like ab guts. I always wonder if I am going to attract a great white fishy when chumming.

My family will be camping at Ocean Cove on Friday. Will probably dive on the North end of Fisk Mill. We will be yak free since boat season is closed for fishing. If you see see a bunch of drunk Portugees with a black lab and a beater chevy cabover come over and have a beer!

Me and my carpenter construction crew will be looking for a spot friday morning.  I'll be back friday afternoon to campout after work(in dillon beach area)  I only have two weeks after the first of April before I move to Maui full time.  PM or call me at 510 three5zerosixeight94 if your serious about going deep for monster abs on sat am.  Then of course some steel shaft skull piercing action on some rockies.

If conditions are shitty, oh well, there is always the next weekend.

You still heading out to the barn? Is there enough extra room or a couple more? Let me know since i plan on heading out here. Is anyone going to troll for salmon? I was thinking about it and throwing down a few pots. I might still head to Ocean Cove since it will be easier to do all these tasks unless there is a good launch over there. Let me know. I can't believe Salt point is 35 a night. Damn that is expensive.

I just realized my favorite dive spot has been closed by the state :smt013 :smt013 :smt013. Last year I would literally see a hundered abalone in one day. This was the most protected spot on the Sonoma coast from a NW swell.

I think its great that we are closing down the protected areas of coastline so we can save mollusks and fish while endagering human life :smt011
