Recently got some new yak clothing.... (farmer john, .5mm LS shirt, and so on)

Basically all I need is a Paddle Jacket. This is something I will wear every trip, hot or cold. I don’t mind getting a little hot cause I can always take it off. I want something some what wind proof and water proof....

Any suggestions, I know nothing about these jackets. Last year I used a crappy old Burton snowboarding jacket and it worked but was bulky for the yak... Any tips on new gear or great deals is appreciated ....

*Ive done a search, I did find some info, but always struggle with the search function. Can you search a specific category? Or just the whole site?

Thinking along the same lines as you Brent, I got one on closeout from REI-Outlet online for 45$.  Dont see it there anymore, but hopefully you can get a deal like that (here is one; http://www.rei.com/product/801269)

For me, I wanted to be sure that it unzipped all the way, like a jacket, so I could take it off easily.  Dont know much more than that about it, since all I have done is walk arund in the rain with it  :smt005

I've been using the NRS jackets for quite a while. I had a Black Rock jacket that held up great, and then a few years ago I got a new NRS jacket which is a lighter fabric but still plenty tough. I wear it pretty much every trip.
It basically comes down to how much you want to spend. Kokatat makes some sweet jackets but I found NRS hard to beat for the price.

ive got the NRS powerhouse jacket, like the fit through the shoulders, doesnt breathe that well, after a full day of hard paddling it gets a little wet underneath, and the collar isnt the most comfortable, but ive taken some spills in the surf and it keept me pretty dry, cameron

Porky....Based on KZ's recommendation I got this one and have been really, really pleased. On the coldest day I go with a long sleeve rash guard, thin fleece top then this top. I have never been cold. Since you are using a FJ the shirt tunnel may not be necessary. I pair it with the tempest pants and have never been wet. Even when I ate it in the surf holing on to your yak  :smt003

If you are at AOTY feel free to take it for a spin/try on

You can search the the threads for "dry top" I think its about 3/4 of the way down the page

Nice, thanks Eric. What size did you end up getting? YOur taller then me I believe, Im 6-2. I prolly got a bigger bear gut then you, but on my way to loosing it before the season starts!

That right, I remember this jacket this jacket from when you retrieved my yak from the surf after I abandoned ship. Thanks for that, and you got pretty wet, sounds like a good jacket!
