Starting March 1st we no longer have to display our fishing license. That has cost me two licenses in the past, and on several occasions, found myself with out it in possesion because it was in my other vehicle or vest etc. Now it can always be in my wallet. Woho!!!  :smt003

What’s New For 2010

Bay-Delta Sport Fishing Enhancement Stamp Repealed
(effective Jan. 1, 2010)

Beginning January 1, 2010, anglers are no longer required to have a Bay-Delta Sport Fishing Enhancement Stamp affixed to their Sport Fishing License to fish in Bay-Delta waters.

New Marine Protected Areas (effective Apr. 1, 2010)
Beginning April 1, 2010, 21 new marine protected areas, two state marine recreational management areas, and six special closure areas take effect from Alder Creek near Point Arena in Mendocino County, to Pigeon Point in San Mateo County. For more information, see the Marine Protected Areas and Other Restricted Fishing Areas section beginning on pg. 58.

“Wear Your License” Regulation Repealed (effective Mar. 1, 2010)
The Fish and Game Commission adopted regulations that will end the requirement that anglers must display their sport fishing license above the waist while fishing. Beginning March 1, 2010 anglers must have their sport fishing license in their possession while fishing.

(I always thought this was a bogus law, repealing PROVES it)

Thank goodness we don't need to wear those license when we fish anymore. Kinda get in the way especially when the wind is blowing.

Good Deal, lost a license this year while out yak fishing- and no replacements, had to buy a new one. Yes it should be on you while fishing, but no need to have it visible:pinned to a hat, pfd, or shirt/wetsuit.

Mine will still hang off my hat since I have too many cards and other stuff that I need for a fishing trip in the pouch with my license
1. license
2. abalone card
3. sturgeon card
4. lobster card
5. zip ties for securing sturgeon and abalone tags
6. waterproof space pen for filling out all these report cards
End result is too many things to cram into my wallet

I keep all my diving reporting crap with my dive board in a waterproof tube. That way it's with me. I'll be keeping my general license in my wallet now.
