It was good to be out on the water again.  I did not fish today, I do not have a CA license for this year, I will get a day one for the 27th, but no reason to give the state more money as we are heading North :smt002 It was great to see James, Chris and Scott (and Molly too) on the water.  Here are some pictures of the catches I was around for and some shots of the picnic area Jay and I have reserved for the gathering on March 27th.  The water is high and murky, but the picnic area has a good launch spot for kayaks (on the left side of the area).  Make sure and ask Jay for the best way to land a kayak in that area, he has some nice "tips" for finding keys that sink to the bottom as you paddle in  :smt044  I just wish I had the camera ready!

Tried a new Wolgang Puck recipe (http://www.ihavenet.com/recipes/wolfgang-puck-recipe-Striped-Bass-in-Ginger-Vinaigrette.html) for grilled striped bass and it was pretty good. Here is the FISHONADISH pic for Adam

Nice striper Scott.  Sounds like they are in the southern part of the lake.  Did you end up getting him on the downrigger or did you change up after the hour of nada?  Wonder what Chris ended up getting his?

Sorry to hear the fish didn't want to cooperate Jay.  At least it was a nice, therapeutic paddle with the wife.

Sad I missed the company.  Other than the cost to play, I enjoy fishing that lake.  Hope to catch everybody at the FnC.

Michael - I believe Chris caught his flatlining a small red Rapala south of the ramp. The stripers spawn in the south end I believe.  Personally, I think the south end right now is better for soaking bait. It is super muddy and filled with floating sticks and weeds. I caught mine just south of the narrows with a firetiger 1/4 oz Kastmaster on the downrigger at 20'. I picked up the Kastmaster last week at Glory Hole Sports on the recommendation of the lady who works there. Didn't catch any fish at NM with it, but it kept the skunk off my boat yesterday. Next time, I am going up to dam first and work my way back.

John - I line my reels with fluorocarbon in the fall when rockfish season closes. Cost me $30 for 4 reels and it has to last me till May. That striper was an amazing fish and actually gave me a couple of sleigh rides.

Howard - Molly can get half way onto the boat and then I give her an assist.

Nice one Scott glade to see you did not get skunked, looks like I might give it a go this Friday if the weather holds up. Looks like a real nice day you all had :smt007.

Pat - Sorry I can't join you, working Fri-Sun.  :smt013 Yes it was nice not to get skunked. Been skunked 3 times already this year. If you are targeting stripers you may want to try trolling or trooching an anchovy on a 2 hook trap rig. Or soaking a cut bait anchovy on a single circle hook carolina rig. BTW, thanks for the downrigger weight. It tracks really well on the spectra with little drag.

Good Luck! Scott

nice striper and great report, Scott.  I could really feel the excitement of that striper peeling line off your reel, and you getting down to only 5 rounds of line left.      What a great catch.

Glad everyone caught good fish.

Nice pics too.   DV looks so nice and green with all the rains.
