there is a tree along the coast that requires climbing to see/check the surf/waves. If you dont' know about it, local surfers/assholes smear crap on the lower limbs to prevent outsiders from peeking.........your idea will work. :smt003

E.B.---my cam is strung with a cable and padlocked to the tree it is strapped to.
I did take a leak next to the cam. The pigs didn't seem to mind.
It's there now, along with a sow-in-estrus scent hung in a branch. Not that the hogs needed it! We just want to see what effect it has, if any.
I retrieve the cam Wednesday. Pics to follow.

Juan... no wonder you keep going back.  I would too if I kept see those pigs on my trailcam.

Such a crappy year at the Tejon for me. Other people did well, but dang amazing place to walk and drive around.
We saw "condor" city though and I caught half the population in the western US on tape.
16 condors.  No sh$!^.
Anyway, It's a long way out till next season.
I finally got the crosshairs level slinging copper at targets.  Have to get good quick at $9 a round.

What are you shooting that cost 9.00 a round. You should start reloading. Lot cheaper.

Took my spotter from the army with me to a pig-o-rama there in 2002.  He smoked his @ 680 yards and dressed out at 159#.  The next day I busted mine at dark @ 492 yards and dressed out at 281#! I won the cash and paid for both of ours to get mounted and ground into sausage.  Mine was rank as hell and I ended up with almost 200# of sausage out of that hog.  I need to go back, that was fun.

I have heard that they have "pig-0-ramas" and that is great that you actually won!  Maybe it's why I am seeing fewer and fewer from the roads.
I think next season I will spend more time on foot and down wind.  My buddy, who guides says the same thing
and says he has never seen it so slow up there.  I hear the stories all day long of how "killer" it used to be!
Drives me nuts!

What we did, is get off the roads.  Find a ridge that overlooks several drainages, and set up just before light and just before dark, that is your window.  You will see them coming and have time to get in position for a shot.  They will avoid the roads if possible, so think the situation through.  They need heavy cover for the day, water to drink very near the cover, and open area to root.  So, by getting on a tall, open ridge that overlooks several drainages with a creek or spring in it, you can glass the adjacent ridge lines and spot them on the move.  Both of our hogs came at sunset, but seen a butt load of sows and little guys and some smaller hogs at those time frames.  Middle of the day, unless using dogs, is a waste of time.  I use that time to scout.  Look for rooted up hillsides, with the above ref habitat very near, and you now have a spot to watch that evening.  Good luck and keep at it.  They are there, just have to be at the right place at the right time.

With regards to not seeing pigs in the middle of the day, I think there is an exception. I think they like to be out in the sunshine after a period of heavy rain. It's summer now, so that doesn't apply, but last January, at Sonoma, a big boy, the biggest I've ever seen there, just strolled by me right out in the open, near the road, and in the middle of the day. I wasn't ready and didn't get a clear shot at him, so he's still there. I call that one baseballs, because I got a look at his "equipment" as he strolled away from me. I saw pigs that way several more times, always on a sunny day after a period of heavy rain.
I can hardly wait for the opener.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.
