After getting my new T120 rigged with a QRS I was ready to hit the water in search of some Leos.

It wasnt without some help though. I've kicked around in a Hobie maybe 3 times about 5 years back. Other than that, not much time on plastic. It's good to have fishing buds who are generous with their time. It was due to their efforts that putting me on my first (non kick paddle kayak) fish was pretty easy. Cant say enough about fisherman and the great people they tend to be. Never fails.

My crew was met with fog, glass water and a pretty good looking day ahead of us.

We anchored up and hoped not long after we would be talking astrology. Leos are all alike.

Our stars were talking and drags started burning. Is there anything better than watching one of your friends go bendo right in front of you? The laughter, the fish jumping, drag burning and all of it 10 feet away. Gotta love fishing.!

I decided to get in on the act and landed my first legitimate yak fish. Mission accomplished.

I finished the day with 3 sharks landed out of 6 opportunities.

Thanks to all of those board members who helped me in the yak buying decision. I'm hooked.

Where were you,

I've had some awesome shark/ray days off Alameda and in Tomales bay.  Been thinking about trying the Dumbarton area.

What is the MBF event?

Do i need an anchor set up to shark fish for the leopards? Only have fished from them from shore in Foster City...

lets get out there.

MBF = money between friends. Everyone can toss in a $5 or $10. Most caught wins. Too much of a pain to measure them. Any old anchor set up will work. Where I have gone there hasn't been crazy current. I got a 8 lb mushroom that you can use. Often I just tie off to the channel markers.

We could try Redwood City Harbor. Easy launch, newb friendly (if you wanna bring someone along) and they got space to BBQ. And if you are really motivated you can try to make it to the dumbo bridge.

I'll post a hook up in a few weeks. Next weekend is the New Melones Event and Mooch's San Luis chill. Maybe 1st weekend of March?

WTG on the leopard shark AdMan. Were you taken for a little sleigh ride?
BTW, I'm in Eric for some shark fishing get together. I'll be using that reel you
are thinking of giving me.

Very nice report and pics AdMan. I would be up for some sharkin but for me it would be CNR. Don't eat sharks or anything that lives in the bay.

Thank you,

Only one shark took me for a ride. The QRS worked great. I followed one of the threads stickied here for instructions.  :smt001

All sharks caught were released. I've released more fish than I've caught!  :smt003
