Kayak comparison spreadsheet

Attached is my highly scientific detailed analysis   comparing yaks, specs, list prices, etc.  It only covers 8 models: 4 OKs, 2 Hobies and 2 WS.  Its worth every penny you paid for it.

I have to confess I comparison shop tent stakes and it drives my wife nuts.  But I rarely suffer from buyers remorse.

The net of it is put some miles on each to try and be objective about a subjective decision. Its all about tradeoffs.

Then after all of that throw it out and jump on a used yak deal on CraigsList.

Thanks for the comparison spreadsheet JWR.  According to your "research"  the mirrage drive for Hobie OB is heavier than the one on Revolution, I thought they're the same drive and s/b interchangable!

Very interesting. Just to defend my personal choice, the Revo, the revo has two rod holders plus the three hatches like the OB.  Both of the Hobies also have rudders as standard equipment.  The Hobies also have a whole list of options like sails, dodgers, stabilizing pontoons and more.

Now go buy the one you really like.

Re: the weight differential on the drives.  I do believe they are the same but I pulled the specs from the Mfr's website.
