Right on!  If you haven't yet, check out Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, (pre-HeeHaw days).  You'll see where Dwight learned everything he knows.

I love classic country...  was just listening to a Hank Williams box set, (the lost tapes, or something like that, all radio broadcasts from the 50's)....  and Hank III ain't bad either.

Mooch-I saw Cypress Hill at one of the lollapalooza shows! They totally rocked it, and I had expected them to suck. I'd never clicked with their stuff until that show.

Sharky- dude, I tried but I could only listen to 21 seconds of that jellyfish song. Does it improve farther in?

My recent fav album is not super new. The Black Crowes "before the frost".
I've always been a BC fan but they have had some weak stuff, and they tear it up on this album. "Good morning Captain" and "I'm not hiding" just rock.

First album I bought: Iron Maiden, Killers tape.  I must have got some money for my birthday or something.  My grandparents took me to the mall.  They, like most of their generation, were pretty religious.  I remember my grandmother looking at my Iron Maiden tape: looking at cover and eyes getting real big.  flipping it over and reading the titles (killers, murders in the rue morgue, etc :headbang:) - eyes got even bigger. :jawdrop

From then on I was an Iron Maiden freak.  That was until I heard Metallica for the first time... Then I heard Slayer...... Then I heard Pantera..............  Now I listen to bands like Lamb of God and All Shall Perish (from Oakland for you East Bay metal heads).  So, Iron Maiden is like weed.... It lead to harder stuff  :smt044

But, I listen to everything..  Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Pink Floyd, some techno, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, War, Crosby Stills & Nash, Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age.

I like just about everything.

Forgot to mention something: This might be a surprise to some of the more "mature" folks, but metal music like Pantera, Slayer, and Metallica is what GOT me through high school.  It kept me "sane".  If it wasn't for crazy-a** metal that I grew up on, I probably would have gone nuts.  I used to confuse my step mom by actually falling asleep with metal blasting in my earphones at night.  That backfired on me when I fell asleep listening to Tool, Undertow.  For those Tool fans out there, you might know about the hidden track on that album: cricket sounds then some weird a** speech that doesnt make sense.  I woke up to the crickets, but didn't realize that it was the CD since it was summer and the window was open.  Then, some dude starts saying random crap.  I almost jumped out of my skin!!! I thought it was someone outside my window.

Haha.. Im definitely not normal, especially when it comes to music.  Classic rock one minute, reggae the next, then to the metal :violent1:

I listen to all styles except rap but also love local music that is not mainstream, a few faves in here.  Playing guitar for over 20 years I am a big fan of all the "guitar heroes" .... Page, Perry, Hendrix, Rhodes, Beck, Clapton, Morse, SRV, Larry Carlton, Joe Pass, Al DiMeola et al ... lest I forget Joe Satriani

One of the best bands ever assembled - Tower of Power

The Queen of Soul

Metallica - Smooth Jazz Version of Enter Sandman

Young Dubliners

Up and Coming
Criticnue - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Travis Larson Band - If you like Jeff Beck and Steve Morse

This drummer is at the wrong gig ... Not a fan ... fast forward to 0:45

Jay....the Gorillaz rock!!!!!! Imo one of the only musical saving graces of this century. OK thats a bit harsh, but in an area of formulaic pop crap, diluted special effects hip hop and a bunch of has beens touring, Gorillaz are a welcome break. Their animation aint bad either. I believe 'Del the Funky Homosapien' is an Oakland resident...........
