Went fishing with Dave and Jed at lake Berryessa.  It's foggy when we arrived at the lake but the water was glassy.  Caught my very first Black Bass while trolling inside the cove.  Must be beginner luck since I've never go after them in the pass!  Jed caught one not long after mine.  Jed had to get back home for some family business around 2pm.  Dave and I was slowly trolling toward the point outside the cove,  I was follow right behind him and saw his float popping up and down so I yelled: "Hey Dave, I think you got a bite" and sure enough his float was disappeared into the water!  The fish fought really hard but Dave skillfully landed the fish. While I was busy getting ready to rig my other rod with a floater, Dave yelled out: "Sonny, you got a fish on"!  I turned around and grabbed my other rod and the fish still on (definitely beginner luck  :smt003).  We started to head back to the ramp around 5pm and it's dark by the time we finished loading the kayaks.  All in all it's a good day OTW.  I had a great time fishing with friend (Jed) and making new friend (Dave).  Here are some pictures of the day:

Good job on the cold water bass! Were you guys using minnows under the bobbers? How deep from the bobber to the hook? Thanks

looks like a good day sonny!  two fish down for AOTY.  i'm about 95% sure that first one is a spotty and the second one is definitely a smally.

Yes we're using the left over minnows from our last year CL trip!  I recalled Dave hooked his fish on the sliding bobber which was setup about 12' - 15' deep.

I needed that time on the water so bad. Thanks Dave for setting it up and to you
too Sonny for coming along. All though we caught some fish, it was very slow. The
fish were definitely down deep. Lost most of the big minnows trolling close to shore. I landed one fish and that was it. 16" SMB on the last Clear Lake minnow.

Dale, I had some extra thick socks on so I was still toasty warm that way. Whenever I used the shoe type for the tempest pants, the sock part would grab
my toes in. I can feel that restriction all day so I settled for the sandals instead.
Much more comfortable this way.

No, I think it's still a little early for Bluegills and Crappies in this lake but I could be wrong!
