All interested, I made it to Portland safely.  I should get keys to new (old place) place for me tomorrow.  Currently in hotel with internet.  Sucking it up as much as possible as I don't know how fast the cable companies in my new area will be hooking me up.
Tomorrow I start the Intel (Not sure which fab just yet) maybe D1D ,D1c?  I call Hitachi's admin tomorrow to find that out.
After that, my adventure begins!   There is a lot of water here!  Saw I think Mt Hood in my side view mirror when getting ready to change lanes, that was a surprise!
also, not so sure my outback will fit in my new (old) place?  :smt012 I'll know more when I finally get in and measure stuff.

Anyhow, I'm here and already miss wife and cats! :smt010

Downtown Portland is a great place to see a movie.  They have lots of old theaters where you can have a brew and eat pizza or a burger during the movie.  A much better deal than the $5 candy bars and $10 popcorn in the theaters down here.  Maybe the prices for the candy and popcorn aren't quite that high but a movie for two with a few snacks is no bargain in the Bay area theaters.  Saturday Market, downtown along the River is a pretty good time too.  If not for the gloomy weather, Portland is a great city.  I don't know about fishing, but it would seem like there would be plenty of action considering all of the water.  The jet boat ride down the Willamette(sp?) is a fun family adventure.

Troy

Good luck on your adventure. I have some friends who live in the "couv" across the river who I introduced to kayak fishing. PM me if you want to hook up with him. He fishes the Columbia mainly.

Being the storm trooper that you are, I'm sure you won't have any problems fishing in the rain :smt002

Thanks all.  First time away from home since my Navy days 28 yrs ago.

Update.   Got the keys to place after work yesterday, Promptly headed out and got some cutrin materials, slapped up a few curtin rods, put food away, got garbage can, and put my bed together.  (Important things) First night in new place.
While at work I contacted Verizon for cable, internet and phone.  There comming out this Sat the 16th to hook me up!  Got my online courses done today for my badging at Intel, now just waiting for someone to give me some tours and continue signing off my paperwork.   Hopefully soon.
It's raining here currently, and cold outside!
