Man you guys complain alot. Powers owns a charter boat, he is in business to make money. He makes money by taking people fishing and getting them on fish or squid.

people like catching lots of squid and he keeps it entertaining. No one is forced to go out on his boat or forced to catch more then they want to. You can bring your own tackle, but expect to pay more for it on the boat. Thats the ways its always been.

and if people want to sell their squid to others for crab bait all they have to do is hang around for a few hours after the boat comes in.

I made squid the other night it was excellent. soak the squid all day in water to remove bad taste. Fillet of membranes on both sides. Lightly pound to loosen up meat. In non stick frying pan fry squid 3 minutes on both sides using just a little oil to keep squid from sticking. lots of water will come out of the meat, the meat will shrink by half and firm up almost like a beef steak.

I then cut the meat into strips and put over whole wheat pasta with a garlic tomato pasta sauce.

Recipes...As Ocean said, you need to remove the membranes. I've found that you can peel them off by hand for the most part, but fillet them if you need to although this will take away some of the meat. Soak in water or buttermilk for several hours or all day.

Lightly pound the steaks.
Marinate in lemon juice, olive oil, pepper, cayenne pepper, rosemary, bay leaves, etc for 1 or 2 hours.
Throw straight on the grill and cook until you have nice grill marks on each side. Slice up and serve. This also works well in a salad if you refrigerate and save for the next day.

Recipe 2:

Soak, remove membranes, etc.
Rinse off buttermilk.
Dip in egg...
Roll in fine bread crumbs until evenly coated.
Fry lightly in olive oil until brown on both sides.
Drain on paper towels.
Place in a baking dish.
Pour a marinara sauce over the steaks.
Grate some mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Add some parsley.
Bake at 400F until cheese is bubbly and browning.
Serve...
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Well, it makes good crab and rockfish bait, too. Sorry you don't like it.
