I'm not sure where you can take it for a paddle locally, but if you want to try my Trident 13 at Shadow Cliffs just let me know.

I bought the 15 foot green Prowler off of mooch. I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I am impressed at the speed. I'm even more amazing at the weight of the kayak. I did carry the kayak from the parking lot down to the launch at Santa Cruz by myself without wheels. I think taking the hatch off would have made the task a little bit easier.  Mooch was right about the kayak being light at 54 pounds.

Shadow Cliffs is Pleasanton right? That's pretty local. Do you work weekdays?

I think what I'm going to do is sell my Predator 13 and buy either a Prowler or Trident. I need something lighter/easier to load and faster.

Unless someone chimes in with a place you can try both, which probably would be better, I am available after 4:30pm weekdays. Which would give us about a hour to paddle the kayak at Shadow Cliffs before sunset.

Just PM me with a day that works for you. I'm not sure I'm going to be free over a weekend for a while. This weekend I'll be in monterey.

Prowler [emoji106] ! Very light good simple boat. P15 is faster but the P13 fits easier on/in smaller vehicles. Seems to ride high in the water so very dry but more likely to get blown around by the wind than the T13.
Trident can stow gear but hull looks kinda funny, may be extra stable?

Thank you. Maybe next week. I thought this week but ended up going fishing(in the yak) yesterday and today. Along with once last week. All at Quarry Lakes.(only 10 minItes from my house). Last week not much fishing, just wanted to get used to the yak really. Didn't catch any. Yesterday almost had one until I grabbed the net and he took off. Today it was dead too. No onje else in boats were catching any either. I do need a lighter yak though.

I was just looking at the Shadow Cliffs website. It says the boat launch is closed?

Can you go crabbing/ocean fishing in a 13' yak or do you really need a 15'er?

Does anybody put a 15' yak in the back of a pickup? Seems to me it would be to long?

Most people ocean fish in a 13 foot kayak. It's a good and common size for ocean fishing.

Crabbing might be a bit tough in a Trident, but I've never done it. I assume you're concerned about stability when crabbing. If you want more stability, you need a wider kayak not a longer one.

I have a Predator 13 now. very stable. How far do you have to paddle to get crabs? Thinking of replacing it though.

i have a difficult time staying up with those in a T/P-15. I paddle hard and they are just paddling.
I LOVE MY P-13 and wouldn't want anything else!  :smt001 (never paddled anything else)
