Anyone have a surf fishing rod and/or reel for sale?  I want to try surf perch fishing.
The article on the forum was very informative, and it's something to do until the season opens up again.

Wow that's a great deal if you don't sell the combo I might be interested in the reel.
Eric is that reel made in China or Japan

i went to cvs a couple years ago and bought a combo. 7' rod with reel, i run 10#. Its a great surf combo and it only cost $25. The surf is very unforgiving on gear. I have bought several combos from kmart and cvs and still have them. Eagle claws and other known brands.

Mickfish,
The reel was made in Japan
A little history about this reel:
I started with Fisherman's Warehouse (than Delta Bait and Tackle) in 1986
Just after that the Daiwa rep came in to show us the new gear
He let me try out his sample before it was avail to the general public
I liked it so much I talked him into selling me the whole set (Than 4 sizes)
This particular reel has been used about 5-6 times since than
and has spent the rest of the time gathering dust
The Wisker SS was the first reel to use the long cast spool and also the first to
use a worm gear to drive the spool up and down as you reel (now standard on most reels)
I guess you can say it changed the way reels are made.
I have since worn out 2 in the 700 size and 1 in the 1300 size
This was and still is one of the most dependable reels out there.

Eric, if your planning on heading up this way sometime soon, or have a way to get it up to the bay area I'd take you up on that combo.  Seems like a good deal to me!  I'm just having no luck with my shorter casting setups getting out far enough, and it's time I upgraded to something fit to do the job!

Al,
Has anyone heard of a good Sturgeon bite?
Might have to make a trip out of it?

Thanks everyone.

Eric, it's a great value, but I've decided to pass on it to go for a less expensive setup.  I'll probably regret it at some point...  thx.
