I have a love/hate relationship with my outback. Dont get one pre 2000 (2.5L DOHC) they had a nasty head gasket defect. just had to stuff another engine in mine, but I got it for $600.
I LOVE the car for driving and yakhauling. I HATE having to work on it cause some things can be stuffed waaaaay in there.

Nearly same year and mileage and only had to clean the oxygen sensor.  Rockhopper if you ever have a toyota problem you can ask me for advice or help.  Pretty good with that after working in a toyota service dept.

This thread makes me feel pretty good about my vehicles: 07' Subaru Outback Sport, and 00' Toyota 4-Runner :)

Actually... I have been driving the 4Runner everywhere recently, its so fun to drive ;)  But if I wanna make a quick trip, the Subaru gets me there at 80MPH with a yak on top!  :smt005

I will say the stock bars on the 4Runner were crap, compared to the Thule aftermarket ones I got...

Feel free to ask if you ever have a problem and I'll run it by my friend who is the best tech ever in my opinion.  I got my 4runner while working at Toyota.  This crazy guy jumps out of the truck and says i want to trade this in.  I said why you should sell it yourself.  He said I've paid three different shops and it's still broken.  Oh I say I'll have it diagnosed free.  No I hate this f n car. You want it.  Sure I say.  2000 is all I got.  It was worth about nine at the time.  I drove it into the shop and fixed the oxygen sensor with some brake cleaner.   Toyota trucks and many other vehicles need a this fix after so many miles.

Oh yeah these 4runners also commonly have rear axle leaks that jack the breaks up and need to get fixed.
