Taking the family and friends to Doran Beach on Saturday.  Should be a good time, BBQ and some crabbing.  Kids are going to fish off the beach and jetty, and throw crab nets.  I am going to take the yak to drop some gear out a bit, and then back tot he beach for some horseshoes and fun.  Anyone welcome to join us and ahave a family day and fun.

Keep an eye on the conditions. It's not looking pretty right now:

I am hoping the Bodega Head and Jetties keep it down so that the kids will have an ok time.  If nothing else, a day at Doran beach which is usually very safe for the kids to play at.

Right by the jetty in front of the bathrooms will probably be calm enuf for the kidz. I know you can score the red crabs there but are there any dungies there too? Thought you had to drop traps out in front of Carmet or the rivermouth for those? jim

There are only red crab near the jettys. Tomales is a good idea. The swell doesnt really get in there and there is no wind in the forcast.

Are you allowed to crab inside tomales, and are there dungies?

I have pulled a lot of dungies off the jetties, and limits out in the bay away from the jetty.  The huge swell has us grounded this weekend, going to sit it out, the swell is just too big, and I am sure the crabs are going to be hunkered down.  Tomales would be a good bet, but I am going to wait out the storm.  Go get em boys!

yes, yes.
lots of under size dungies.  it's a fun place for camping/clamming/fishing/crabbing with your family but IMO tomales is not an ideal place just for crabbing

Last year I did ok in tomales, lots of red crabs, and a half limit of dungies.  But there are a bunch of 4-5" dungies there.

FWIW - You can always drop traps inside Bodega Harbor. I've caught plenty of dungies from the Spud Point area, Tides Wharf area, and Lucas Wharf area.

Also, there are Dungies around both jettys. Mostly reds and rock crabs...but there are dungies in there, too.
