Halloween Day
Stoogie,Rob, Sara, Al, Andy and his boys,Eugene and Myself.
Stillwater South
Sunny and WINDY

I was feeling a little out of it with no energy, but decided to go anyway.

Ever been to the monterey Bay Aquarium and seen the Kelp Forest, well imagine sitting on top of that tank and fishing and looking 40 feet down into crystal clear water and watching your swim bait bounce around as fish bite it and take off running.

It was crystal F'in clear in the morning, 40 feet visibility in areas, literally watch fish below you. Easy limits and a fish almost every single drop, and YES, I did keep some to eat. Lots of fattys, and threw a ton of fish back too. It was almost cheating, it was basically a sure catch pond. Needless to say the kelp was abundant with life, all you had to do was look down and you could see fish everywhere. AMAZING.

Best and most fun day of the season.

Porky ain't playin, a fish on every drop for a while. Fish were hitting everything sprimp fly, swimbait, megabait, lucanus jig. I kept a few a let a lot go back down. Great day out there, got windy again around noon so we moved in and checked out the smaller coves inside Stillwater something I've never done all the years I've been going here.

Oh yea!

I got to take the princess to get her hair done (she's six now) like a princess and go see Princesses on Ice at Arco since wifey was working. I didn't want to go stupid fishing anyway.............

But if I did, I'd like to get in on some of the action you guys found! Congrats and tight lines!!!!

Slightly jealous,

Almost felt like cheating, for sure.
Weather was windy and you had to tie to the kelp most of the day, but a small window from about 9 to 11 was awesome,

I was also tied to the kelp, looking down into the forest, watching my swim bait bounce around a big rock on the bottom 30 feet down, making it swim into and out of the seagrass, watching it all the time, them bam!, you actually got to see the shadow dart and grab the lure.
The thrill of the bite and hook set has always been my favorite part, but when you can see it happen it almost makes you wet yourself. Sometimes it backfired as I would try to set the hook in anticipation and miss it.

The wind picked up a bit later on and we all had mixed bags of blacks, gophers, browns and cabezons. So we all had a nice slow paddle following the rocks and golf links back to the beach. It was a beautiful day, one of those rare times when fish, weather, and friends have "one of those days"

I brought home 4 blacks and 3 browns. All were nice size, nothing less than 15 inches and a monster fat brown that was 20 inches and weighed 4 lbs when I got it home 2 hours later. Caught a cabezon that was too skinny to bring home, probably would stretch to 15, but I sent him back to grow till next year.

Another stellar day with memories to keep me going thru the upcoming winter till rockfish opens next year.

Hope to get out at least once before the 15th, but days like this bring back memories of days when fishing was always like this.

Stoggie

Sara  :smt007 and I  :smt003 arrived around 10AM after swinging by MBK to get her a used wetsuit to wear for her first time out on the ocean in a kayak.  Launched into the beautiful crisp water and headed out to see Andy and his two sons diving over by the big Pink house.

We started fishing, but the wind picked up (even in the cove where its usually FAC) so we keep close to the shore and took in the scenerey and watched andy and his boys diving.  Caught a couple Zombie's,  :smt106 but decided they needed to feed on some more brains, so sent them back down.

Ended up not having the usual beach BBQ fun, but instead headed back to Andy's place to cook and drink, and party the rest of the night away! :beer1 :smt033  :icon_r&r:  :headbang:  :violent5:

Happy Holloween!!!
