Hey Guys,

I want to go, I want to go :smt026 I want to drink beer and fish for salmon down the Sacramento River!!! At least if I get skunked I don't have to drive 400mile home.

Looks like you all had a great time. Did you have to drop anchore at all during your float down?

Alex... we floated since the current was nice and slow.  It was a good way to cover more ground.

At some point, I'd like to try anchoring.  In that case, a sardine wrapped kwikfish or Silvertron spinners might work better.

If experience is not required, I'll be there.

If I want to bring home a fish, I'll bring my son Eric. He always seems to out fish me. :smt003

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought any lure weighing more than an ounce in the river could only be used with a single hook, not a treble. I know Broadway Bait sells them with a single hook.

It would be nice to know for sure... but if that was the case then everyone we encountered was fishing illegally.  In fact, when we bought our 2oz. Gibbs Minnows recommended by the local pro at the Gone Fishin tackle shop off Hwy 80, he threw away the single siwash hooks that came in the original packaging and replaced the stock treble hooks with even sharper Gamakatsu treble hooks.

1.71. Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
The Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta includes all rivers, sloughs, canals, cuts,
forebays, and flooded islands within the area south of Interstate 80 to its junction
with Highway Business 80, and south of Highway Business 80 to its junction with
Highway 99, west of Highway 99, north of Interstate 580, 205, and Highway 120,

It looks like we're okay using trebles.

When dropping the jig the reason that you want to keep a little tension is to keep it from fluttering. A fluttering lure can result in a foul hooked ( snagged ) salmon which must be released. Although foul hooked salmon fight even better!

I am dying to get back out after saturday's heartbreak of a loss.

rule 3 does seem to outlaw trebles on a lure more than 1 oz. but everyone was doing it.

I'm assuming that technically you were IN the Sac-SJ Delta.

Rule (b)3 doesn't apply to the Sacramento River Delta as defined in section 1.71.

Rule (c)1 implies that treble hooks are legal in the Sacramento River Delta because is talkes about legal dimensions for single hooks and multiple hooks (i.e. treble hooks).
