and no one can figure out how I vote, not even me!  I just make it up as I go along  :smt002

Plus every side of the political spectrum is guilty of proposing wacky as heck ideas!

True that.

And for clarification everybody, I wasn't insinuating that only one party is guilty of this. :smt001

For the betterment of society, I'm done here.

I'm not in the NCKA AOTY and as such my voice is small but think this is a valid topic.

Simply put, I think some fish can handle CNR and some are notoriously fragile. Taking them out of the water to put them on a Hawg Trough and fiddle around trying to get a decent shot might as well be a the wood shampoo. I know plenty from my own failed experiences and felt like sh*t every time. Some members are masters at the CHTPR but I doubt we're all as good. I can understand those who want to keep the AOTY it the way it is but there are fisheries with fragile fish that have high pressure and IMO should be left alone when it comes to competition. The only easy way to ensure that is to limit it to fisheries that allow retention. Thanks for listening.

So, feedback is negativity if you don't agree with the feedback?

I don't know where that came from - especially since I agree with the way AOTY is.  I just pointed out that it seems like some people get pretty defensive and kinda jump others for suggesting possible changes.  I don't know why anyone, Ben OR myself in this case, needs to feel like negative energy is coming back their way for something they wrote.  It seems there's been way too much of that lately here.  I often read things on here and find myself having a negative thought.  I always try to analyze it and make my best effort to put forth something positive no matter what first struck me.  I'm not perfect on that, but I have made a point of doing it and I've benefited from doing so - personally, spiritually and through direct complements from other members.  That aspect of NCKA, the ability to benefit from putting something positive on the board, is what I enjoy most here, so it's getting to be a bummer to see the negative energy creeping in.

My bad if I mis-read it at all.   :smt001

Eric, the way I read the posts is that Ben posed a question and received various responses, none of which I thought of as being negative or defensive. But, whatever, I'll start participating in AOTY again, however the rules are set. Mostly out to enjoy the kayaking and the friendships. Fish are secondary to me.  :smt004

So, feedback is negativity if you don't agree with the feedback? FWIW, I will be signing up for AOTY next year even though I don't get out often, which probably means less likelihood of C&R if it's a legal catch.

Howard....we need to change that negative attitude of yours  :smt002

repeat after me: "I will get out more often AND I will catch"

Mooch, I can't have a negative attitude unless I actually CATCH fish, can I?  :smt005

Words to live by, Howard.  Sorry if I've been pretty defensive.
