1. Another row of weatherstripping around the factory strip that sits on the opening of the kayak.

2. Neoprene cut and gooped to the inside lid of the hatch cover.

3. Neoprene hatch cover made to go under existing hatch cover.

4. Original hatch strapped down on top of neoprene cover.

I just made a quick cut of the neoprene cover so it isn't pretty but it worked. I used 3mm.

I was interested in reading about your hatch problems.  When I was considering whether to get a T15, I recall examining the pod hatch and thinking that it seemed too flexible--even on the new T15, the ends of the pod cover distal to the retaining straps seemed to bow upward a bit and I wondered if this could let water in.

It is too bad OK didn't just mold the pod hatch with two longitudinal ridges near each edge.  That would probably have supplied enough rigidity to prevent leaking.

Seems like they could have done the same for the forward hatch.

I was thinking that if I had gotten a T15, I'd fortify the pod hatch with a few layers of carbon fiber.  That's an alternative solution to your problem that avoids having to have a separate cover for the hatch. Little pricey since the carbon fiber costs about $65/yard.  But since it's 50 inches wide, you'd probably need less than a yard to put on two layers, with a layer of Baltek sandwiched in between.  This would make an extremely rigid, but very light cap that could be non-permanently bonded to the outside of either pod or forward hatch cover.

Someone else on here shaped and bolted a cutting board to the pod hatch and it looked very good. It would also make the hatch cover a great place to cut bait or sushi.
