No Stripers caught, keeper nor otherwise. My highlites of the day, the company of Martin, our depth-finders both worked and that special brew he provided. Downer was a latch failure on a floating leash. Martin is feeling pain much more than just his Luguna Seca hat blowing away.

Was it windy?  It's windy today so I went fishing from shore in Benicia.  Caught many shakers and one 22" keeper using Sardine for bait.

After a day to contemplate the loss; I realize it was only a camera!  New and expensive as it was, it's was still just a camera.  Considering the enjoyment of fishing from the yak with team NCKA, it was a small price to pay and another lesson learned.  Don't trust the "Mickey Mouse" little plastic attachment device on a $15 floating strap to support a $300 camera.  The loss of a camera isn't enough to stop the "madness".  I'll be back on the water as soon as the weather permits.

sorry for the involuntary garage sale, and for the lack of line siders.  Seems like a windy day to be out there?   I am dying to get out that and this time of year is usually great!  The party boats were working Pt. Pinole and SB bay last week so they have to be coming through!

wow that sucks martin.  i do not use the floating straps, i just attach a piece of pipe insulation (pool noodle would work well too) to the regular camera strap.  its much stronger that way.

Sorry about your camera Martin.  What'd happenned?  Did the quick disconnect between the camera & the float brake?

Sorry no action again for you guys. Perhaps the stripers are coming in later than usual. That's
a big bummer Martin you've lost your camera. I need to find a way to secure my camera as well.
If you come up with something super cool to prevent that from happening Martin, will you please
share it with us?

As Ben suggested, I am going to leash my waterproof phone/camera to a pool noodle. Thanks in advance for the equipment you are saving. I have lots of extra. Come by and get some. dave...
p.s. noodle not equipment

just one more tip - make sure to test it in a bucket of water first to make sure it floats   :smt002

thats how i usually pass my camera to people, i just throw it and let it float to them.  :smt044

From what I could tell based upon what didn't go down with the camera, the plastic attachment piece just unfastened by itself.  It was a kind of socket/plug that "locked" by the expansion/compression of a buttom on each side that matched up with the socket.  It didn't break, it just failed to hold.  I think the float on the actual camera strap is definitely the way to go in the future.  The strap attachment on the Canon D-10 appears to be really solid and it's aluminum vs. plastic.
