Got a call late last night from Pescadore that he was gonna fish Mendo and wanted to know if I would join him.  I said sure, but warned him it had been SLOW.  Me and Jelly got there early and pounded the north end for nada.  After Pescadore showed we trolled to the island at the end of the buoy line.

Things were looking like another shut out until I marked a nice school on the ff.  They were deep so I dropped a kastmaster and worked it like a jig...bendo.  Woohoo!  Fought the fish for a few minutes and it got wrapped in my bait line and breaks off....ARGHHHH...start bringing in the bait and it gets drilled and I'm back in business.  Jelly gets hooked up and so does Pescadores newbie buddy.  This is the Mendo I love  :smt007

Jelly and Doug come unbuttoned and I land my fish.  Kept this one for ChuckE panko.  Meanwhile Doug is back on and his his goes everywhere and we get tangled.  We get my line off and it wraps a rock on the shore.  We unwrap that and a bit later Dough lands a beauty on his first ever yak trip.

Had to run home...WAF was running real low. Fish was 28" and 8.25#.  Nothing huge, but I'll take it!  Doug's was also real nice.

Doug was beyond stoked.  He had a small kmart special spinning setup with 6 lb spooled up on it.  Afterward I tell him that Sean sells these boats.  He asks how much, and I tell him 8-900 bucks, I think.  He replies, is that all? I think Sean had a hook up in more ways than one.

Also, Sean's sidekick, Jelli, is one heck of a nice kid.  And a good fisherman!

Glad your buddy had a good time...the newbie luck is a powerful force in yak fishing!  Did you guys catch anymore fish?

No, but the ocean conditions are so good right now, dave and I are going out at caspar in about 5 mins.  Dangerously low levels of WAF.  Possibly into negative numbers.  thanks for a great time.  If the ocean is crappy next WE, might try it again.
