Nice stringer Andy. I haven't ever fished or speared down in your area. I need to get down there.

Your good enough now to start shooting them in the head. Quit shooting holes in the fillets!!
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

New Zealand yellowtail ;

I shot it in 1983 off the Three Kings Islands far out to sea off the top of the country.
It was the biggest yellowtail I have ever seen....and became just part of the catch on the grouper boat I was working on.

nice fish, any idea what it weighed? Did you have a reel/floatline or did you shortline it?

Back then we didn't have the float lines.
 We just horsed em in and took our chances.
 I had a Prodanovich gun which was very hard to get and valueable so that fact alone ment I would never let go.
I found that no fish could pull me for long and not wear himself out.[ no, never went for bluefin tuna!]
If it ever came to it...I would jettison my weight belt and really fight em floating but it never did. A full 7mm wetsuit on me w/out weights is really hard to submerge for long.
That thing really was big and must've weight 65+ lbs.

Well nice fish, I'd love a shot at a forked tail of that magnitude. Still have that Prodanovich? I've got one that I don't use, just a wall hanger.
