Will be there at or around 7am.  Expecting shicken and pisciform, but with those guys you never know.

High tide is around 9ish.

If I get out there early enough I am going to try and plug a little in the lake, if not I'll just get out and get the anchor down for the turn of the tide.

Going to try and get some ghosties and bullheads.  bring a book if you get bored easy =)

using the same launch as dale did, i will be on 69.

Never been out on the delta and only been out yak fishing once so far, but would like to join you.  I have a few questions.  I think a stamp is required for the delta, correct?
Also, do I need an anchor?  you reference "anchoring down" in your post.
Lastly, what are 'ghosties' and how big are bullheads?  I remember pier fishing as a kid and catching 4 inch bullheads that kept wasting my bait.  thx.

john, you will need an anchor. look up the quick release anchors - you will need one in case a big sturgeon starts trying to drown you.

you need a bay delta stamp

ghosties - ghost shrimp
bullheads - the bigger the better!

I caught my biggest sturgeon ever in that spot under the powerlines in January. Measured 74" towed me upstream most of the time. Fat diamond back log looked like it was close to 100lbs.

It can be very sketchy there though because of the debris and sometimes whole trees floating down river. A large tree floating down river caught my anchorline and started to drag down the back end of my yak. I released my line and was able to get out of the way.

Now whenever I fish Sherman Island I always anchor up facing upstream to keep an eye out for all that junk coming downstream.

Hopefully I'm able to join yall. If not goodluck and be careful out there.

Remember your sturgeon report card as well. You will need to fill this out on the spot and affix one of the tags to your catch if you happen get one that you plan on keeping. These are free and most bait shops have them. I was hoping to join you guys, but I still have some work to do at my dad's house. If my brother can't help until later in the day, I may show up for a few hours in the morning. Good luck guys. Have fun and be safe.

I didn't have to worry much about debris but then again that's just me  for the water still low and not enough rainfall to bring down anything much and or big.  I'd hook up with you fellers but made some plans.

You should call the bait shops to see if they have any sturgeon report cards and Delta stamps too before heading out.  Oh Yeah!  Don't forget to ask them about your bait.

yeah i got my sturgeon report card from the beginning of the year still, make sure you have yours if you are planning to fish for sturgys. you only need to fill out the sturgeon report card if you catch and release a sturgeon/keep one.  its not like the lobster card where you need to fill it out every time you try.

found a new bait shop in modesto with prices similar to hap's - will give em a shot tomorrow.  they open early too, 4:30am so that's good for me. will save me about 15 minutes drive time so that's a plus.
