Spent the day at Del Valle today and caught dozens of fish, all from the shore. The water is still a bit warm so trolling you're as likely to catch a small mouth or large mouth as you are trout. The usual "go to" lures still aren't producing consistently yet. If you go, your best bets are either fishing from shore or drifting Power Eggs along the bottom. Still a bit early for trolling...

From shore the best producing tactics were casting and slow retrieving Power Eggs, and occasionally I was able to pick up some fish on a kastmaster. I met up with a friend who doesn't have a yak and after about 3 hours we lost count of the fish we caught. There wasn't much size to most of them, the largest being about a pound.

Thanks for the report.  When the big bite picks up, I'll head over there with you.  Grew up in Livermore, so partial to Del Valle.  Lot of fun memories with rentals there.

Thanks! I may hit it again this Saturday, but it will depend on other factors. I'll post a hookup if I plan to go again.
