It was on fire!  For gophers.  Caught a fair amount of them today.  GN, Kiel, kayakjack, and solfr1 all joined up for the day.  I ate it on the launch, but, was the first to catch a fish! HA.  Pulled half limit of blacks and gophers, then went for bigger fish.  Got my first cabbie on the kayak and first china.  Gabe slammed a monster cabbie, 23" and 7.5 pounds!  It was a hog.  We boogied at noon, both with limits.  Great day on the water.

Nice work there Montana.  Kiel called me Thursday to join you guys for friday but I came up with a stomach flu.  Still not feeling well enough for a Saturday launch but hope to make it there on Monday if the weather holds up.
Gophers are always fun to catch and they somehow fit perfectly in the frying pan. :cook :smt003

Dont' feel bad about the yardsale. Kiel and company spent at least ten minutes picking up my stuff when I scattered it all over the beach on my launch. I think I still owe someone beer for it.

Part of me also thinks that it's entertainment for that crew to take a newbie and watch them tumble in the surf.  :smt064

The launch was not a total wreck, just rolled out of it.  I was timing the waves, and waded out to knee deep water, looked flat, hopped in and grabbed my paddle, looked up and a 3' wave was crashing over the bow and turned me sideways and rolled a bit and I bailed out busting the rod holder, not really a wreck, just enough to piss me off.  I will always call myself a newbie, even after years of doing it, always learning new stuff.

On a side note, all my fish caught on home made lures.  Wanted to fish the butter knife jig BaitNBeer made me, I just put reflective tape on it, and one of my shrimp flies above it.  Fished that setup all day.  GN fished a scampi and no bites, switched to a ling bar and started boating fish as fast as I was.

I'm a newbie and have been out once so far (thx Sin Coast!).  Just want to let you guys know that I am learning a lot from reading the posts.  Pictures just motivate me more to get out there.  I realize there's nothing like the real experience, but wanted to let you all know that the posts are not just informational, but educational.  thx.
